Thanks everyone. I will definitely recap the machine soon.
For now, the fix was simply taking a few more attempts at fitting the the ROM SIMM right, and the Simasimac went away.
Sorry for a boring conclusion to a boring topic!
The SE/30 is now copying all my FloppyEMU SD's contents to its...
Hi all,
I don't mean to be the so-manieth poster with a simasimac issue, however my issue seems specific enough that some quick ideas may come up.
My SE/30 is showing the Simasimac after fitting a new PRAM battery and the ROMinator II. It was booting fine before although a recap is on the...
Indeed in that System 3 or 4 folder there is a "Hard Disk 20" system file. Will see what I can do to add that to my 6.0.8 boot I have on the SCSI2HD's SD.
If that means I can have emulated Mac access to a dsk image, that simply works when flashed to the SD going into to the SCSI2HD, that sounds ideal. However I can't find a BasiliskII binary that doesn't immediately quit on my M2 Mac, even two builds that are supposed to be ARM compatible...
Thanks everyone, especially @Phipli for the elaborate suggestions.
I've configured the SCSI2SD according to the linked guide and also tried writing a 6.0.8 image from @Realitystorm .
However the FloppyEMU doesn't mount, with the HD20.dsk set on the device.
The FloppyEMU is connected...
How does that work? All I got is my SD that I wrote a 7.5.5 boot image to, which is fed to the SE/30 over SCSI by the SCSI2HD. Plus the separate FloppyEMU with its DSK files.
I'm trying to transfer my BMOW FloppyEMU's hard drive to my SCSI2SD.
To write to my SD card, I use dd. However dd'ing a .disk file to an SD card, results in a disk not being recognized.
I'd like to keep using mini vMac however to edit the drives.
What's the right way to get the contents of a...
Thanks @Builder1
As a novice but with a solder iron, which of those kits should I get to restore full sound? I have the same problem as OP - very faint but working sound.
This part didn't work. Emulating a Mac II and installing the Expander worked, but booting the Mac Plus with the same drive, and trying to use the Expander to expand a StuffIt 5 archive, yields a system bomb with Error 10.
Hi,
I'm reviving my Mac Plus and have System 7.5.3 running on it, using the wonderful FloppyEMU kit.
A lot of the vintage software on the web, unfortunately, is stuffed using StuffIt 5.
By virtue of some long sessions of Google-Fu, I was able to find a StuffIt4-compressed StuffIt 5.1.2...
@360alaska Are you not at all powering the SCSI2SD board like shown on your photos?
Or is the little bit of power going into your adapter board enough to make it run on the current coming through the SCSI cable?
If you are feeding the SCSI2SD board its own power, where from are you drawing it?
I'm almost ready to install your board design, @360alaska.
While I'm not the most experienced electronics hacker, I am willing to do whatever it takes to get it installed. I know - inept but persistent. The worst kind, right?
Without asking you to hold my hand with each step, I have a few...
@Jinnai
If you mean the little adapter board @360alaska made to solder onto your SCSI chip, he shared his board design in this post:
I've since had a few printed through oshpark.
See the beginning of that thread for pictures.
Great answer, thanks!
I'll see if I will commit to this. But the truth is, since I have the Plus, I would like to be able to boot it and use (and accumulate) some apps without the restrictions of a mere floppy drive.
Hi BadGoldEagle and mactjaap,
I've got a Plus too, which I'd like to add a hard drive to, as when I as little, I used to have a Plus with internal HD too.
I never really found out the story behind that except I remember my parents bought it for me off some computer engineering student who...
