Hello! Thought I'd start fresh with a new thread of my conquests.
This one is honestly a bit regretful but turned out to be more worth it in the end... I paid $140 for a Macintosh IIsi at a local computer shop in my area. It was in very nice condition, but the capacitors needed to be replaced on...
i have a performa 475, which has been with me for a while. unfortunately the power supply blew up on me and i feel like recapping it would not really fix the main issue these have... which is just not being great power supplies. i'd like something that ideally would give me more power than 27W...
Hello!! If you don't know I'm simply someone who likes messing with old electronics.
Back in March of 2023, someone in a Discord server I was once in was giving away some parts of their collection, and I was lucky enough to call dibs on a Macintosh SE/30 with a RasterOps Colorboard/264. Just one...
I recapped an SE/30 a while back and then I decided to try re-soldering the chips that had corrosion on them which may have caused issues with the system not working correctly after said recap, and while I was cleaning up UE12... this happened...
Is there a way to fix this or is my SE/30 doomed?!?
With the use of the DLSD LCD cable and the panel... I have managed to get this working. A 1440x960 15" panel on a 2004 15" PowerBook G4.
I suspect this is possible because Apple used a similar cable in the 17" PowerBooks, albeit with dual channel LVDS rather than single channel LVDS in the 15"...
So this is a project I've been THINKING of taking on. I've received my 2 PowerPC 7455A chips, each rated at 1GHz, probably able to get to 1.33GHz at the most. My plan was to swap 7455A/B chips onto these computer parts:
-Dual 1GHz G4 card, early - I'm going to have to get someone to do this for...
As you may know (and as a small Vintage Apple server I'm in knows), I'm usually known for overclocking a 2005 eMac to 1.92GHz. However, that's not the only thing I've done, as I've switched up PLLs several times.
Before I start, if you do want to overclock, you might want to check your system...
So I was talking to my former japanese teacher about a story she told, where she had used her dad's old Macintosh computer (she mentioned it was an SE?) with a program called Kirin. More specifically, a demo version from an unknown disk. I did this over e-mail, so here's what she had to say:
I...
I was recently given a Performa 6360 (might I add, with a G3 card!), and when I turn it on, the computer chimes as normal yet the monitor shows nothing but "Input signal out of range, change to 1024x768 at 60Hz"
I'm fairly certain that these do output some nonstandard resolutions, and I even...
I am absolutely not responsible for any damage to your Apple eMac. Whatever you did is not my fault, it is yours. I myself have damaged some parts by sheer mistake and rush. Something like this takes a lot of patience and a good pair of eyes.
Well, since I have a Dual 1GHz G4 card that doesn't seem to work anymore, I may have thought of the idea of recreating such a PCB to allow those to build new cards with the right components. Such a thing would be difficult, but this is merely an idea. If someone wants to take on this task, I...
I've heard these computers are not particularly reliable, but I wanted one anyway for the hell of it. I'm importing one from japan with protective packaging via Sendico and I am getting it in about 3-4 months time because of surface mail. However, I've also heard that some of these computers...
I have a Macintosh Performa 550 motherboard sitting around, probably hasn't been turned on since 2004 according to the person who gave it to me.
I also have a Macintosh Classic (M1420 RevB) which is probably one of my least favorite compact macs because of how it was released at the wrong...
So I went a little insane and I decided to install a 9.1GB Seagate Cheetah ST39204LC hard disk into my Macintosh Classic. However, when I start a patched version of HD SC setup, I get errors that the drive is not mounted or that it cannot be written to. I used an SCA 80 pin to 50 pin adapter...
This had to be a thread. I'll start off with a rare iMac G5 I bought on eBay. Sure, these are dumpster fires, but cool to have! May have paid a bit too much, haha.
Hello 68kMLA!
I have a Macintosh Performa 475 lying around that I recapped (a little poorly, got better since 2020) and it needs some love.
It's got a Motorola 68040 without a heatsink running at 25MHz, I think 10/12MB of RAM, 512K VRAM, a 1.44MB floppy drive, and no hard drive. My plan is to...
so i have a 5300c with a broken screen and i am looking to see if i should replace it (no screens available right now) or just get a better powerbook model from the same time period. your help will be of great use
(whoops, posted in the wrong category. i seriously keep thinking these run 68k...
i'm at a loss of words and mourn the death of my dual core 2.3GHz G5. i wonder if someone else has experienced an issue like this? this computer was stressed to the bone it seems... it had the checkstop LED come on too
I am currently looking for any operating systems other than Mac OS for my 1991 Macintosh Classic M1420. Does anyone know of an OS that can run on an 8MHz 68000 and 2MB of RAM?
