Awhile ago I tried getting linux on my 270c... with little luck...
Recently, NetBSD has proved to be much more fruitful. I followed the guide here and now have a working, bootable install on my 270c. (Only took three days for the duo to do the install ::) )
However, I have a few questions...
Is there such a thing? I was looking at Newertech's options, but they don't list the MDD as compatible with their Dual 1.8GHz 7448 . Would it work in a MDD or are there other options?

Would it be possible to run Quartz Extreme on it with PCI Extreme? If so, it would be a neat way for any of us with Rage cards in our Powerbooks to get QE.

Does anyone have one of these?
Is it possible to get hardware assisted DVD playback with MCE's card under X?
As my WS is slowly turning into my main PPC machine, I'm looking into all upgrades possible and the possibility of hacking a slot...
I am working on getting linux on the 2300c (more on that later), but I can't seem to get BootX 1.2.2 running. It continuously quits with a Type 3 error. This is the case with both the base extension set or all extensions off. This is a clean install of 7.6.1 that I did a few weeks ago. (I...
Does anyone have the Live PNG plug-in (dead) linked to on this page?
I'm liking Cyberdog on my oldest macs; and it absolutely screams on my Wallstreet, but no PNGs is a bit annoying.
Thanks :beige:
I just got my DuoDock up and running as a file server for my Plus, and everything I need is on a RAM disk. Is there any way to spin down the DuoDock's HDD? The little spin down button in the control strip only appears to do the Duo's HDD.
Any ideas?
I'm working on a project as detailed in the Room of Duo to get a PCMCIA card slot into my Newertech UltraDock.(Should be arriving in a few days) However, the card cage they specified is nowhere to be found on the internet(PCD-500). So, I'm looking for something that would serve a similar purpose...
I got one of these with one of my IIe's. Anyone know anything about it? Does it need a special interface card? Googling only resulted in this picture and a few obscure mentions.
I've recently begun to continue my modernizing of my Wallstreet. I was looking at this USB 2.0 Card. http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Port-USB-2-0-PCMCIA-CardBus-480M-Card-Adapter-Laptop-/170651902543?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27bba5624f It is the same one by the same name on Amazon and many other...
I recently got a B&W Powermac G3 400 Rev.2 w/768mb of RAM for 25$. It had several issues, mostly relating to its SCSI disk failing and the IDE disk I was trying to use also being dead. It came with its original 8.6 restore disc; and using that I now have a clean install on a 40gb IDE drive...

I have a Powerbook G3 Wallstreet II 300 and am trying to get it on my wireless network. I'm not sure what card to get and am looking for ideas.
My best-case-scenario is a card that under 9 can connect to open or WEP, and under X can connect to WPA. I'm looking at pretty much a/b/g only, no need...
I responded to a listing on LEM swap for checkerboard SE/30 for 25.00 and a floppy-locked Plus for 25.00
The Mainstay:
An SE/30 that boots to this:
Two Mac Pluses, a 1mb and a said-to-be 4mb, both boot to flashing floppy:
The surprise:
He is moving and trying to slim down his...
I'm looking into two classics:
A plus and SE/30, both for a good price.
However the SE/30 is listed as "Powers up to a bright screen, but only displays a checkered board design."
The plus is listed as "Powers up to a bright, sharp screen. The floppy drive is "stiff" and may work with a...
I'm considering a DuoDock purchase from eBay, but I have a few questions.
First off: Did the all DuoDock IIs come with the 32kb cpu cache and FPU, or was it optional like the Dock I ?
Secondly: If you were to use a 270c in a Dock II or in a Dock I with FPU would it then be able to use both...
I'm trying to get a linux (debian specifically) running on my duo 270c. Following instructions here I've made some progress.
For woody I am using these files:
http://archive.debian.org/debian/dists/woody/main/disks-m68k/current/mac/linux.bin...
So I was going through the basement looking for a laptop ram module and came across some old cards in the "idk what these are box". They had obviously been put in there before I knew what scsi was. What I found was:
- 2x Adaptec AHA-2940UW PCI to 68-pin High-Density SCSI(Externally)
- 2x...
I was wondering if this wireless card was compatible with a Wallstreet(II)? It simply says PC card, which LEM lists that a wallstreet has two of, but I wanted to make sure before I buy.
Thanks,
Ted
