So, i now have a mostly functional 6360+6500 with a Rage 128 and a G3, i kind of wanna get it onto some network stuff to just browse, i have an older SCSI to ethernet adapter, i have heard tales of that not working with powerPC, what is the easiest way and possibly cheapest to get this to browse...
Yep, and i wonder...what can i do in 7.6.1 with a rage 128, i got the 128 to at least have better video resolution than 800x600, and potentially some 3d. I want to have a pure 7.6.1 machine for nostalgia, and this system and the price was good.
I installed a "kingspec" 128gb ide SSD into my Kanga, and i can install 9.1 from a ibook g3 CD, and then it...eventually stops being blessed, i bought a SD to IDE adapter to hopefully fix it that way, just incase it is that. Would this be a SSD issue to begin with?
Is there any mirrors of old software for mac os X server 1.x/Rhapsody? since the kanga can in theory run it, i wanna give it a spin.
Edit: Not looking for like server software. more like random ports of open source stuff and games to it, curious as to what the homebrew was like
Can be X, can be Classic, curious as to what versions you have nostalgia for.
For me it is 7.6, it was the first version i ever used in late 00/early 01 in middle school on an LC 5x0 and powermac 5260 in middle school. Prior to that i was at schools with ibm all in ones.
My 2nd favorite is...
i bought a UK english powerbook g3, is there any thing i have to do to swap it to US english other than just a language option in the OS and swap a keycap out for a US english 3?
so, i intend to send the analog board and the logic board off to my uncle to get recapped, console 5 offers a tantalum recap kit, is that even worth going after?
Other than recapping, is there anything i can do to make the system better in general, i know a Classic I is one of the most limited...
I, for the first time since 2005....have liberated an actual 68k mac.
Found a rather decent Classic in working condition on eBay. 4MB (according to seller) of ram.
Rescued an iBook G3 off ebay, i will be posting photos here as soon as i get it in.
Purpose of this system is to run os 9.2.2 (i also obtained the original restore disc set to install it) and not 10.x, i have a powerbook G4 17" for that (1ghz)
The prior owner of this system maxed the ram at...
I have been reading about how you can use a Quicksilver CPU in a Digital Audio powermac, but it has to have a 12 Volt connection, anyone here know how to do that or know of a guide online?
I saw on ebay a Powermac G4/733 with a 20 GB hard drive. Model number was for a G4 Sawtooth. Picked it up for 101 bucks with shipping. I am amazed that i got a G4 digital audio instead of a sawtooth. It is currently running 10.4 with 512mb of Ram. Photos will be taken after i clean up the case...
