    Farallon StarController Software

Thank you!! Both good reads, and the best find was the wiring diagram for the management cable 😁

    Farallon StarController Software

Thank you!! The firmware file is super important, that's what got mine going again. Not that anyone asked, but leaving a few troubleshooting tips here in case it helps anyone in the future: -A SCSI cable works between the punch down block and the StarController (if you don't have the original...

    BlueSCSI HDD Speed ...

Check the log on the SD card for any indication of fragmentation. I had one SD card full of images that sped up significantly after a reformat and re-copy of the drive images.

    Farallon StarController Software

Hello! In the midst of collecting a bunch of LocalTalk stuff, and found a Star Controller for $10 on a random surplus sales site. Let's hope it actually shows up! Now to acquire 36,000 feet of telephone wire...😅 However - I can't find the Star Command software anywhere. It's not on the Garden...

Converting 1990s TVOD Mac video files to something current

Total shot in the dark, but could an old abandonware version of Adobe Premiere convert it to something else within the OS 9 environment?

Can someone help me identify this Color Classic's Logic Board?

Has the 9 pin geoports so that's a power Mac board from a 5400/5500/6400/6500. Nice!

Powerbook 150 Boot Disk and General Questions

You can try downloading the "Legacy Recovery" iso CD image from Macintosh garden on your G3, and then browse the disc by computer model to make install floppies with diskcopy 6.x. 7.5 should work fine, but it will also point you to the right version of 7.1. You will need to install any old...

    PowerBook 5300 Series Battery

The inside metal contact that touches the outside of the barrel doesn't have any spring left in it. I did see your other thread and am debating going down that path, thank you for posting that process! This probably came from some flight of fancy about using USB C to power it, plus the ability...

    PowerBook 5300 Series Battery

Hello! This thread has been super helpful as inspiration to tackle a 5300c battery related project. Thank you jmacz and others here! So, I've got a broken barrel jack (resoldering only solved half the problem) and am thinking about how to provide power from the wall through a 'fake' battery. I...

    G3 iMac ate a CD...

If it's not totally borked, there is a secret paperclip eject hole (and apologies if you already tried that) https://support.apple.com/zh-cn/HT2225

    ADB - Device/Power Limits

Been thinking a lot lately about what would max out an ADB port. Mostly for silly reasons as I collect random input devices, but also there seems to not be much out there to simplify the ADB equation for non-engineers like myself! I guess my biggest question is: how easy is it to fry an ADB...

    3D-Printed Objects

Thank you for sharing these, I ordered the open version from Shapeways and it fits like a glove! Almost did the CD one with the button, but wanted the versatility of the wide open one. Will get around to painting it soon, but the texture is perfect. Thank you!!

Can anyone lend a hand configuring a Shiva FastPath 5?

This is great, thank you for sharing! Can finally take a crack at having it be more than just an appletalk bridge. TIL it has a battery, and just jumped out of my chair to make sure it hadn't leaked since I haven't used it in like 20 years. Thankfully a tadiran survivor!

    Power mac 4400

I saw that listing, but was sad it didn't have the PC card! Nice score though. Looked like it had a comm slot Ethernet card and two PCI Ethernet cards 😅 hope the HD has a story to tell! Haven't seen the special PC card for the 4400 pop up anywhere in a long while.
