Following. I have an IWII doing this right now (it also isn't pressing well against the page even with a new ribbon). I'm probably going to make it a long-term project and put its PSU into my IWII with a good print head, but it would be great to get it up and running as a functional spare/extra...
My iBook developed this just recently. I want nothing more than to repair it. Is anyone out there skilled in the polarizer film replacement?
Also, how hard is it to check the brand of the display? Even if I go the polarizer film route, I might have to get a spare display as a backup.
Following. I have a similar problem with a Mac Classic, which has about a 1 in 5 chance of having its clock run upon startup and a 4 in 5 chance of it being stuck at whatever it's set to (either the default 1-1-04 at 12AM or whatever it gets changed to in the General control panel). I know the...
I've had some interesting cycles myself. I go a long way back with these computers, having used them when they were current, then picking up some machines when they were cheap for fun.
The idea for the lab actually came a long time ago, back when I was in school, since I always felt it would...
Sometimes the mechanic special can be worth it.
I bought a IIsi for $20 at VCF. It's currently with Tom Andrews (Amiga of Rochester) getting a recap of both its main board and PSU. It lacked a HD but did have a floppy. There was no keyboard, mouse, or monitor, but I sourced a keyboard for $20...
There are some deals to be had though. In February 2023, I got an SE/30 at a recycler for $70. No cards, but it had 8MB RAM and came with a keyboard and mouse. All it needed was a recap and a floppy drive (which I still haven't put in). The drive inside is gummed to the max.
Curious if it takes less time after a CONTROL-COMMAND-RESET reboot. I have an LCII in my lab that occasionally comes up to this screen and after a reset, it's fine. It has a working SCSI drive like yours and was recapped a few years ago.
I forgot to add that this came with the matching 12 inch monitor. It’s honestly not a good bargain unless you factor in that it not only had the monitor, but it was a local pick up.
On Thanksgiving, I was totally bored and was browsing through Marketplace. I found a Mac LC for $50. My first thought was that it was probably in some far away place, but as it turned out, it was only a short drive from me. Today, I picked it up on my break from work.
It doesn't have a keyboard...
Great to see my old thread revived!!
Looking back at some of the replies, it sounds like we could have a pretty solid team here on this.
Good thought about Cosmic Osmo!! They're similar in play style, too.
One thing that I always felt could be incorporated into Spelunx is more of a math...
Only the CD-ROM version has music. The disk version only has a few sound effects, specifically when a rock is hit while rafting, the rifle is fired during hunting, and when someone dies.
The equivalent MS-DOS version on floppy DID have music.
You mentioned sending it to NY. If you're referring to sending it to Amiga of Rochester, it's worth every penny. He's done tons of boards and power supplies for me and they've turned out wonderfully. He's especially worth the money if your soldering isn't the greatest like mine is (I can do...
If it helps, I seem to remember reading something once about the keyboard having a new layout around the time the Plus came out within the system software--something about the calculator DA in particular changing in System 3.x along the way. Are these computers running the same version of the...
We know the original model was in Apple IIc white, aka "fog". The platinum model came out in 1987 alongside the platinum Macs. Was there ever an overlap that year when both colors of ImageWriter II were being made? I'm seeing some original owner platinum Plus and SE owners with the fog...
