    Apple Design Speakers

Ah so the two knobs aren’t actually related to that, one is for volume, the other for balance! Oddly enough though last night someone posted some in box AD Speakers 1 for a low low price so I grabbed them, so I’ll be able to compare how different the 1s and 2s are!

    Apple Design Speakers

I have a set of the Apple Design Speakers II but not the originals (although I did have them back in the day). Can't say that either sound particularly great, but I remember the reviews at the time saying the original ones were a bit better. The one thing I did like about them was the fact you...

    Apple Network Server 700/150

I’ll have you know it’s a lovely, fully working ANS! He has no problems with that ANS. 😂

    Apple Network Server 700/150

Not a conquest as such as it’s not mine anymore, but here’s my old ANS 700/150 which I gave to a friend 20 years ago, and he’s recently restored!

PowerBook 500 Series full 040 CPU swap

Oh indeed.. I think the plastic on every PowerBook ever made is starting to crumble now, especially the ones made around that time.

PowerBook 500 Series full 040 CPU swap

I was thinking that too.. actually I’m thinking if you took a 190 and replaced its screen with an active one from a 5300 (maybe even a CE?) and gave it a full 68040 you’d pretty much have the best portable 68k machine!

PowerBook 500 Series full 040 CPU swap

This is pretty cool.. I’d love to do this with a 33Mhz chip for my 550c at some point!

Not a Lisa, but I did get a nice wee surprise today. Bought a rough looking Se and SE/30 a couple of weeks ago. I wasn’t entirely sure if they worked or not, or if it was even an SE/30 as the bucket seemed to be that of a SE. Well got them unpacked today and wow they’re dirty.. but...

Well I already have a cube.. 😅 Mac TV is a difficult one.. it was a miracle being able to get the LC 520.. I expect any Mac TV would become a surprise jigsaw puzzle in shipping. Maybe I could paint my 520? 😂

    Prototype PowerBook 550 advice

Yeah I’m not gonna paint it.. it’s a pretty unique machine.. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 550 with a grey case. Certainly haven’t seen one pictured anywhere I searched for it. Besides hopefully soon I’ll have a retail 550c in black and with PCMCIA cage! I’ve actually spent today...

    Prototype PowerBook 550 advice

Thanks for all the input from everyone above… Good news.. it’s now working! Kinda. It still occasionally glitches. I think it’s also partially due to the ribbon cable that goes from the board under the Apple logo to the LCD itself. But at least I know it’s worth trying to save! And the...

    Prototype PowerBook 550 advice

Not sure, I’ve not yet had a look at a 550c teardown to compare the parts. Would be interesting to see if anyone has a good link for one as I’m too exhausted right now. It’s been a long day!

    Prototype PowerBook 550 advice

Controller board: A quick search for the part numbers SHARP LQ045 and SHARP X1340KA doesn’t come up with anything. I’m debating next steps. Ideally I want to try and get the screen working, and it’d seem the next logical step is to recap the screen itself, but.. is it sacrilegious to...
