    OrangePC Card on IIfx

Switched off virtual memory in Win 3.1 - not much free space was added (File Manager now states 14.8MB of space is available as opposed to 11.8MB). I have 6.1MB of usable RAM (Win 3.1 uses around 4MB). So something is hogging a lot of disk space - still need to look into that.

    OrangePC Card on IIfx

Not intentional of course. I wasn't sure what the 19,438KB value was referring to (although I figured RAM was involved somehow) but you've clarified that so thanks. I'll look into disabling virtual memory and see if it frees up some disk space in my partition. Interesting tidbit - my Win 3.1...

    OrangePC Card on IIfx

What I'm attempting to figure out is why File Manager in Win 3.1 states I only have 11.8MB of memory left in my 50MB OrangePC partition. I only have 4 programs installed - DOS 6.1, Win 3.1, WP Presentations 2.0, and Sound Blaster 16 software for the SB-2770. I doubt those 4 programs are...

    OrangePC Card on IIfx

Fixed the sound issue by setting the master volume to max and increasing the gain using Sound Blaster's Creative Mixer software: This is what the SB-2770 looks like inside the IIfx connected to the OrangePC card: One thing I've noticed is the amount of hard disk space that has been utilized...

    OrangePC Card on IIfx

Bought a sealed (NOS in the box) Sound Blaster SB-2770 card. Worked out to just under $300 CAD with shipping and eBay's "tax." Came with all the original documentation and software on 3.5" floppies. It's designed to run on DOS 5.0 and above and Windows 3.1 (I have DOS 6.1 and Win 3.1). The card...

Did it come with the unobtainium breakout cable?

    OrangePC Card on IIfx

Haven't done much with the OrangePC card in awhile. I'm currently on the lookout for a Sound Blaster card that's more in line with the 486 processor on the card (the AWE64 card I have works, but I agree with Byrd's previous assessment that the drivers are just too complex for DOS 6.1/Win 3.1)...

PowerPoint 4.0 - Causes CHK Error & Crashes OS 8.1

Uninstalled PP 4.0 using Microsoft's Office Manager. Kept the ClipArt images (they work in 3.0) and some templates. IIfx doesn't seem to be crashing anymore.

PowerPoint 4.0 - Causes CHK Error & Crashes OS 8.1

Yeah. It’s just odd that PowerPoint seems to be the only problem child. The rest of the office suite is fine.

PowerPoint 4.0 - Causes CHK Error & Crashes OS 8.1

It’s compatible with any OS from System 7 to 8.6 with a 68020 or faster processor. It will not run in OS 9.

PowerPoint 4.0 - Causes CHK Error & Crashes OS 8.1

I did the ResEdit hacks to get the IIfx to run OS 8.1

PowerPoint 4.0 - Causes CHK Error & Crashes OS 8.1

Office 4.2.1 was the last version of MS Office to be supported on a 68k Mac. Can't go any higher than that on the IIfx (next Office edition was 98, which required a PPC processor). I think I have the highest revision for 4.2.1 (my installer came with the "b" revision). I had someone else's...

PowerPoint 4.0 - Causes CHK Error & Crashes OS 8.1

I was able to find a sealed complete copy of Microsoft Office 4.2.1 on eBay awhile back. Not the most popular version of MS Office for the Mac by any means, but I wanted to have a clean install of this version to replace a previous owner's butchered version on my IIfx. The main problem I've...

    Mac ii flashing green video.

Maybe its your monitor? I had the same issue with a 19" LaCie Electron Blue III CRT using my 8.24GC card and High-Res card. There was a fault somewhere in the monitor.

Star Trek After Dark Does Not Work - Mac OS 8.1

According to the Macintosh Repository, After Dark 4.0 requires a 68040 or PowerPC to run. Not sure about Version 3.0

Star Trek After Dark Does Not Work - Mac OS 8.1

Yeah I think the TNG one is from '94. I don't have that one, but I doubt it should make much of a difference. I also have the Disney release from '93. Were there any other screensaver programs for 8.1?

Star Trek After Dark Does Not Work - Mac OS 8.1

Tried installing my original boxed copy of Star Trek - TOS After Dark on my IIfx running OS 8.1. The installation itself went fine. However, the control panel for After Dark doesn't seem to do anything (can't switch it on or off/can't program the screensaver to activate at a desired time/can't...

    PowerPC Options/Cards for IIfx?

This has probably been asked a million times and I'm guessing the answer is no, but I'm curious to know if there was any attempt by Apple or a third-party developer to offer some form of PowerPC expandability for the 68030 IIfx? Has anyone been successful in getting PowerPC software to run on...

    Softwindows 2 68k

SoftWindows sucks anyway. I ran Version 1.0.2 on my IIfx - the 486 OrangePC card is far better in terms of performance and has a far less memory footprint than Insignia’s software.
