Upgrading my Performa 6360 with L2 slot CPU and Ethernet card

I LOVE my 6360/466MHzG3, but it's NOT a LAN Party machine. Find a plastics destroyed G3 DeskTop (with Rev.B board?) to strip off the plastics for installation of its beautiful sheet metal into some kind of carry case. Bus speed increase, pretty darn good graphics and internet are on board to...

264 MB in PowerMac 7100 Hack

Do you recall what dr. bob dubbed "the evil RAS line hack" from the 'fritter day? if you jumper lines from the 4MB on board pads the 605/475 will address stupid amounts of RAM?

Mac Plus internal SCSI: noninvasive edition

AH! @Stephen nice work! While you're rethinking your project take a look at this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1333056 It's not for clipping onto DIP legs, but you get the idea. My notion would be to extend the "pin spacers" to fit between the legs of any given DIP chip. Springiness...

Mac Plus internal SCSI: noninvasive edition

Got linkage? I've seen one something like I understand yours to be somewhere, but don't remember where.

264 MB in PowerMac 7100 Hack

Figures, I'd go with trag's take on a really bad day as opposed to LEM's on one of its very best days. ;)

264 MB in PowerMac 7100 Hack

I'm confused here for a change. Are you saying 8 x 32MB SIMMs yield 264MB in Radius 81/110 and 8100, but 8 x 64MB SIMMS would yield only half that? edit: I guess that you might have meant 64MB SIMMs show up as 32MB? That's per LEM though. If you can hack a 7100 to 264MB, maybe you...

Mac Plus internal SCSI: noninvasive edition

Cable's fairly short, but could be shorter? So not sure crosstalk will be much of a problem for you at Plus SCSI transfer speeds. Why is that green board used? Maybe try using a 50 line IDC cable, splitting it, pruning back the alternating 25 ground lines aabout an inch or so while using the...

Dunno, which ones are they? If they do 1600x1200 and you have the DSP daughtercards I'd think...

Dunno, which ones are they? If they do 1600x1200 and you have the DSP daughtercards I'd think so. The only SuperMac cards I can think of in my collection would be a crazy high resolution card for the 030 PDS and first rev. Spectrum. I have a high end RasterOps NuBus card, but it's got video I/O.

IIsi bus speed, overclocking/NuBus/PDS sync implications?

Has anyone tested the IIsi in overclocked state with NuBus Adaper/card or PDS card installed? The only mention I've seen so far is this LEM blurb: Although the IIsi was marketed as a 20 MHz computer, users quickly discovered it used parts rated at 25 MHz. (Apple had intended it as a 25 MHz...

The Great Gazelle PCI Hack Thread, Part 2

Another thought: Has anyone looked into the quasi PCI CommSlot II as a problem specific to PCI implementation in Gazelle machines? Any changes to its implementation in the migration from Alchemy could be an avenue of exploration. That quirkiness of the Gazelle bug might be attributed to its...

Is there a way to run a PB100 without a functioning battery?

"Reserve battery power" may be in reference to the backside back up button cells, not the Lead Acid main battery?

The Great Gazelle PCI Hack Thread, Part 2

Hanlon's razor is a wonderful principle, thanks for the lesson. The linked article's timeline explains why it didn't make its way into my 1970s Philosophy courses. Given Apple's history of bus choking, limiting memory in firmware and its underclocking of the IIsi in keeping the low end and...

The Great Gazelle PCI Hack Thread, Part 2

Yep, Apple made plenty of boo-boos too, but they were working from Alchemy, which was pretty solid all things considered. Seems strange they borked something so basic, so badly in the transition? The notion hit me, so I asked, the only stupid question is ths one . . . I thought the Trio was...

The Great Gazelle PCI Hack Thread, Part 2

I read through this thread again after loosely following the lost version. I started thinking about the Gazelle machines and where they fit into the product lineup. A quick trip to EveryMac's 1997 release specs and I'm wondering if you're fixing a bug here or working around intentionally hobbled...

    PEx + Sun Netra t 1125 = Sun Macintosh 1125/4U

Havn't posted a clear pic of just how much of the drive cage I cut away yet: Still room for one of my 2.5" UltraSCSI Savvio server drives in the lower 3.5" bay. The bays are configured for a full height 3.5" server drives.

    PEx + Sun Netra t 1125 = Sun Macintosh 1125/4U

I've never done a video for anything like this, but I try to document the steps with decent pics in the thread. Dunno what it was, I think it's dead now, but I'll take some pics of the board before I drive the stake through its heart. ☠️

    PEx + Sun Netra t 1125 = Sun Macintosh 1125/4U

LOL! It appeared to work last time I fired it up quite a few years ago, but it's been nothing but a counterweight on the short TelCo rack in my display area. I was thinking about offering its intestines up to the Sun ghouls, but I'm too much of a procrastinator to sell anything in the TP. It's...

    PEx + Sun Netra t 1125 = Sun Macintosh 1125/4U

I can highly recommend this little wet tile saw for metal cutting, love it! Drive cage before: Drive cage after: I now have required clearance, access to RAM DIMMs and plenty of room to slide the PEx board back and lift it out after removing the PSU. Haven't pointed out the great...
