So back to my question of using a SCSI emulator, such a s BlueSCSI.
If I put the .sit and .dsk files on the SD card on it, will I still have the same problems of the Mac not recognising the files or corrupting them?
When I opened my "new" PowerBook 180 for the first time today I saw that there are a lot of unpopulated IC places on the RAM card.
Is it possible to solder on extra RAM chips for more memory? Currently the maching has 8MB and I think it can go up to 14MB.
If I got myself a SD cards SCSI drive, would that enable me to install software easily? I imagine I could daisy chain it with my existing Mac HD?
I heard about BlueSCSI. It doesn't seem to be too expensive. Can anyone recommend it?
I have a A9M0106 external floppy, the manual eject button is not working, I'm using it with a Mac Plus.
According to the owner's manual it should work, though I've read somewhere it's only supposed to work with an Apple II but not a Mac - which is true?
I've checked the button, that's fine, so...
I mounted the image and copied the one single file Snitch to Extensions (is it the icon with the hooded guy when loading). Previously I removed Snitch 2.2.
Bringing up the information on a file does not have the Snitch panel though...
I was only able to install version 2.5.2 of Snitch, the .sit files of the other versions wouldn't expand (only the .hqx of 2.5.2 did)
I don't have "dimg" or "ddsk" in the Type/Creator selectors though. The only selections I have are shown in the attached picture.
My PB 180's display has tunnel vision.
Today I baked the screen for 5 hours at 104C.
It's got a lot better, but it's not completely fixed.
I wonder if giving it another blast would make any difference.
Taking the screen off the PCB had me crazy worried for the hundreds of contacts, which seem to...
Concerning disk images:
Some of the software I wanted to install comes as disk images (file extension .dsk).
When starting Disc Copy on the PB and wanting to open a disk image, these .dsk files aren't showing up.
What could the reason for that be?
Thank you, WinImage was a great suggestion.
I found .dsk images with Stuffit and Disk Copy and manage to get those apps on the computers now.
Thankfully most .sit files that I put on a DOS formatted 1.44MB DOS disk work without any further conversion.
Just the one game I really wanted, Infocom's...
Floppy Emu is so expensive 😔
Will I be able to install the system software and other software if I just get ZuluSCSI? Or will I need Floppy Emu as well as ZuluSCSI?
