    Gutless Lisa 2/10

As we mentioned above, the brake is a rather important part of the drive. Because of the damage that can be inflicted by moving the head over de disk while it is not turning, the widget only releases the brake when it is turning sufficiently fast. On the widget the head is moved with a voice...

    Berenod's conquests and collection

Sp, pretty sure the logic board and the 486 subboard looks to be OK, now gotta find me a working power supply unit, not reallu wanting to take my other working 630 apart...Plastic parts of the case are somewhat brittle...

    Berenod's conquests and collection

After a cleanout the LB looked in pretty good shape, so decided to reassemble and go for a test run. Unfortunately there is an issue, but my gut says it's not too bad a problem. The power supply is definitely on the way out. With monitor attached (I tried two), when I push the power button on...

And a new one to add. I already have a performa630 (or whatever you wanna call it), but just now the "dos compatible" version popped up on a local 2nd hand site. You do not see them very often! Untested, together with the matching color monitor, for the princely sum of 50€ The monitor I tested...

    Gutless Lisa 2/10

The spinning of the platter generates airflow, which basically keeps the head from actually touching the platter (with a very small separation). When the disk is not spinning, so without the airflow between head and platter, moving the arm might drag the head over the platter inflicting tiny...

Simasimac after fitting ROMinator, even after reverting

Just don't procrastinate on recapping the logic board! The caps are totally out of spec (none or weak sound is indeed one of the first indicators), so they can and will cause issues. But that's the least of the problems, they leak, and while the board might look squeaky clean, right underneath...

    Gutless Lisa 2/10

Nothing is maybe a bit too little :) But yeah, do not open it, nothing to be gained an a lot to be lost! I assume the widget is out of the Lisa, sitting in front of it with just the powercable and the flat datacable attached. You can try booting with the widget in different positions, like...

    Durosity’s conquests and collection

I've got a Lisa 2/10, plenty happy with that, and runs MacWorks just fine if you don't mind the weird elongated icons! Aah, Molar Mac's, you don't see them much around unfortunately, and would need to be a fairly local pick up, wouldn't risk shipping one of those..

    Macintosh SE/30 with a VDR-2a video card!

Wow, that graphics card is neat! And with a useable output for a standard monitor... I have an SE with videocard, but no idea as to what signal comes out of the DB15 connector, betting it ain't VGA :) Still to research, witll have to probe a bit with my scope before guessing!

Cool, is also still one to add to my collection. As most I started with the coloured G3 iMac's and the iMac G4 because of the higher "cool" factor, but yes for completeness an emac is still needed...

Not a "conquest" per se, but sure going to come in handy!

SE/30 doesn't like new 4MB SIMMs: Any thoughts?

I think it's a typical issue, the pcb's being just slightly thinner. I've seen people stick small pieces of paper between the simm's and the retainer clips just to increase pressure on the pads/contacts.

    Dual booting Apple Lisa

Been looking for several weeks now for a profile, would indeed love one but don't really see them pop up!

    Dual booting Apple Lisa

Thanks guys! Once I have the snapshot of my widget, I will do the installs as per your method. I think the guys at BMOW ships an SD card with most of the needed Lisa software. If that all works, there is one last piece left is the big clean-up, re-assembly and seeing what I can do with the...

Mac SE FDHD lines on screen no boot chime

Yup, just be very gentle with the plastic retaining pieces, they snap easily. Some Deoxit would also be a good strategy!

    Dual booting Apple Lisa

Well, I saw this video just recently: It's a Lisa 2/5 with the external 5MB Profile. I have a Lisa 2/10 with MacWorks XL 3.0 installed on the Widget. My Lisa runs of the H/88 rom, does not have the hardware mod for the square pixels, so should be able to run both MacWorks and LisaOS. In...

    Two SEs & Accessories - $300

BBU, short for the Bob Bailey Unit, combines a whole lot of functions which were handled by individual chips (PLA's) in earlier Macs. One of the issues you had before with the display being garbled,, well, the BBU handles memory access for the video, so the sypmtoms make an bit more sense now...
