    half revived mac IIsi

I was under the impression that speeds are similar, if not slightly in favour of the BlueSCSI, when pitted against the V5s. Being able to drop a hard drive image onto the SD card, give it the appropriate file name as per the naming scheme, and having it work is worth it over writing an image...

    550c Screen Stain?

One of my 550c displays did have it. You could hunt for a 5300c parts machine for a replacement display, they are mostly the same. Although the one I used from a dead 5300c had the display connector in a different spot from the 550c vinegar'd panel, so the internal cable is a bit coiled up which...

    Flashing a Radeon X800 Pro for a G4?

Just from the polka dots, I can tell who that seller is. They are terrible, both in price and in service. Avoid him at all costs!

    Flashing a Radeon X800 Pro for a G4?

Speaking from experience, the Quicksilvers are terribly picky about GPUs and other cards. I've positively pulled my hair out once, reflashing a PC GPU many times to try and get it to work on my Quicksilver, which would refuse to power on. ...turns out it worked just fine on my MDD. You might be...

Any 68k-capable web browser where SSL can be entirely disabled?

Haven't tried in a while, so this might be inaccurate, but I do believe when it tries to establish an SSL connection to a modern TLS-protected website, it'll sit around doing effectively nothing for longer as it desperately tries to connect, than if you'd disable SSL altogether and it fails...

A resistor network. I am not aware of the Ohm value of this particular one.

Reverse Engineering the Macintosh LC Logicboard

As someone shooting film photography, (film) scanners lying about their true DPI is all too familiar. Sure, the software can save 2400DPI pictures, but the optics aren't going to push beyond 600DPI. It gets worse with my Epson V600, claims a grandiose 6400DPI despite it optically really not...

Internal floppy drive on iMac G3 - Firmware downgrade

I've commented on that video as a reply to the pinned comment about this, it does really show that Apple wasn't 100% sure they'd drop floppy, ADB and serial (which is technically still used for the IRDA in the Bondis) until late in development, given the headers are still there on the retail...

    Fastest 68k CPU available?..

I do believe the Buffee was talked about, but it got lost in the Great Crash of '21. This was actually also the reason Daystar ditched their 060 accelerator, supposedly. They were working on both the 060 and 601 cards, then just came to the conclusion that there wouldn't be any point to...

    Daniël's Conquests

Got another Mac for the collection today, a Performa 600CD. It's essentially a middle road between the IIvx and IIvi. It has the 32MHz 030 on a 16MHz bus of the IIvx, but the lack of 32k L2 cache of the IIvi.  I got it locally from the same seller as the PM6100, for €30. He's into old...
