Building an internal grayscale card for the SE/30

I hereby volunteer in building wire harnesses should that help in opening this project up to a bigger part of the community. Having built countless of fpv drones dealing with wire messes and crimping connectors doesn’t feel to alien or annoying to me :). I’m based in Sweden so shipping back to...

Wow! That pcb is a work of art! Have to order some just for the design/artwork 😂

    Beta’s obligatory thread

Ok thanks, that’s a bummer as it refuses to work for me on the SE/30 7.5.5 combo for some reason.

    Beta’s obligatory thread

What extension are you using to get the wallpaper on there? I’ve tried most of them but neither work on my SE/30 (I’m however running 7.5.5)

    Strange Mac SE 1/40

Go to check it out and bring your screwdriver, request that you want to check out potential battery/caps damage before you commit. Sneakingly trying to identify the card when you open it up :).

    Strange Mac SE 1/40

The backplate for those had both connectors on them, so still doesn’t check out 100%. At least we know some had some version of a DB15 on them.. Show him some of all the leboncoin ads selling SE’s for €50-100 😉. Good luck and let us know what you find!

    Strange Mac SE 1/40

The DisplayServer cards came with both a DB15 and a DB9, and I belive there were some accelerator cards offering an optional display out port. Anyhow, now that you’ve got us all intrigued you simply have to buy it and let us know 😅 What are they asking for it?

Found a cousin to my SE/30

Just picked up this portable tv from around early 2000’s. Almost seems like a far related family member, you can clearly see where they got their inspiration from. A small bummer was that it turned out to be 10” although the spec sheet said 9”. I guess due to the total/visible spec difference...

    SuperMac Spectrum/24 Project

I posted a pic of my ColorCard SE/30 here: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/supermac-spectrum-24-project.25793/post-457522 What SE/30 card do you have? In case it got lost in the thread, I’m looking for a rom dump of the Spectrum SE/30 😊

    SuperMac Spectrum/24 Project

Don't know if it's of any help, but just stumbled upon these SuperMac roms uploaded to archive.org for the Spectrum/8 III, Spectrum PDQ and the Thunder 24. Perhaps can be useful to compare against your dumps or different versions perhaps? https://www.buriedbits.org/a-whole-lotta-roms

    SuperMac Spectrum/24 Project

I’m over here holding thumbs that 1) Beachycove on Flickr is the same as @beachycove here 2) He still has his card and 3) is willing to dump or have his rom dumped by someone 😂

    SuperMac Spectrum/24 Project

Thanks, that strenghtens my belief these are indeed the same card, with just the rom being different. According to the info I could find, the Specteum variant came first retailing for $1895 supporting up to 1024*768 at 256 colors. They later followed up with the budget oriented ”ColorCard”...

    SuperMac Spectrum/24 Project

Well, after a new round of googling I managed to find the below image Is it from you @beachycove ? Our cards look identical, would be super interesting to try the rom you have and see what that does :)

    SuperMac Spectrum/24 Project

Super interesting thread. I have a somewhat related hypothesis on these cards. I just acquired a Supermac ColorCard SE/30 (courtesy of fellow 68kmla user @ktkm). After having vacuumed the web for details (not that I managed to find that much), I'm hoping this card may be identical hardware wise...

    A ”holy grail” for me

@joshc Thank you! Unfortunately havn’t had that much time to play around with it due to having two small kids, but at least I’m enjoying the looks off it often :) @olePigeon I know! That’s what I love most about it!

    Asante Mac Con SE Ethernet

It’s quite easy*, simply go to the dd-wrt interface and the config page for vlan. Once there untick ”auto negotiate” (this means the nic and switch try to decide speed by themselves), once unticked you can change the other options. For 10mbit half duplex all should be unticked except ”enabled”...

    Asante Mac Con SE Ethernet

You should be able to set the link speed manually in DD-wrt. Set the port you’re connected to to 10mbit, half duplex and auto neg off and see if that helps. Also check the status lights on both your switch and nic to check that the connection has been established.

    SE30, desk picture, decor etc

Haha @bcschmidt I guess I was one of those others on FB. It’s been bugging me for a year+ now. Excited to give ColorDesk a try, I believe thats’s the only one I haven’t tried so far. The one built into After Dark did not work for me on 7.5.5 & SE/30.
