Is FW 400 faster than ATA 100, on mini G4?

A couple years ago I put a mSATA SSD in my G4 mini, running 9.2.2 V8, and today I thought maybe I could speed it up by using the FireWire bus, rather than the internal ATA 100.. . I already have the mSATA to SATA adaptor, and would just need to get a SATA to FireWire case. Anybody have any...

PowerBook 520, lines on screen, pram batteries

Does anyone know what causes this, and what will fix it? I pulled it out of storage and wired up a new PSU (IBM 16v 4.5A), and was disappointed to see these lines.  The top half was worse, but after squeezing the top edge, it became better than the bottom half.   Next, see if I can rebuild...

    Backwards Keyboard cable.. NOT!!!

So, I see my old telephone sitting there, and decide to find out the fact..... I pull out my early Macintosh keyboard cable (128k, 512k, Plus). I pinned out both of them, and it was the telephone hand set cable that was backwards... Apple has the standard pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2, etc...

Mac 512kE to 1MB Upgrade. Opinions, should I do it, or not?

I’ve been thinking of it, on and off, for a few years. I would use the method, starting on p27 of: http://www.ccadams.org/se/classicmac2.pdf I know that some people think that only “plug in” mods should be made, and that soldering chips onto the logic board ruins the whole thing, and kills...

Is it possible to put a computer into Target mode without a keyboard? I usually use Target mode headless as well. Sometimes it's just annoying to connect everything... even if just for a few seconds.

Cool thing I saved from the trash

It’s not really a conquest, as much as a cool thing I have. Someone I know, will put things in the garage “for storage”, and then 6 months later he’ll tell me it went into the trash…. Well… I got to this before he did it again.. Travel case for compact Macintoshes. Hard plastic, room for...

    Compact Mac, analog rivets.

I recently turned on my SE/30, and as it was about to finish booting, I turned down the brightness, went too far and went all black, when I turned it back up, I saw a vertical line…… Well, I opened it up and went through the analog board, and fluxed, flowed, and filled all the joints… Its all...

Any thoughts about selling my 33mhz turbo 040??

I'd like to use it with my SE/30, but the $250 adaptor is just too much….. If I found a cheap Iici, IIsi, IIvx, IIvx, i could plug it in right away... And, I have the adaptor for the Iix, which is how I came to own the whole thing…. I'd like to use it…. But it's just sitting there --jim
