Introducing (and interest check) AirTalk: Wireless plug-and-play LocalTalk dongles

Ooooo! I'm interested in these as well. Can't wait until they're on sale. I see you're in Wales. Is there any plan to have any made across the pond (in the US) to avoid the probably expensive P&P ? Regardless, put me down as interested.

Apple IIc - no beep, no drive seek, no video (maybe) - worth repairing?

I dug around on Big Mess O Wires site a bit and found: You can't boot from floppy EMU 5.25" images while it is plugged in externally You CAN boot from Smart Drive images while plugged in externally, if you set the correct mode via text file on the EMU's config So that's what I did, and booted...

Apple IIc - no beep, no drive seek, no video (maybe) - worth repairing?

Hooray! I have ROM v3 and the built-in diags come back "System OK", which is awesome. I'm having trouble getting it to recognize my floppy EMU plugged into the external drive port. Since the IIc is working properly, I really don't want to take it apart and risk snapping any brittle plastics...

Apple IIc - no beep, no drive seek, no video (maybe) - worth repairing?

Thanks gentlemen! I truly appreciate the help. Now... I have to figure out how to get the floppyEMU working and get this booted properly. First I'll give the on-board diags a try. I hope it has the later ROM...

Apple IIc - no beep, no drive seek, no video (maybe) - worth repairing?

Some progress this morning... Composite video works! On first boot, floppy drive seeks On first boot, you get a nice POST beep On first boot, it displays the "Apple IIc" insert disk screen. (I don't have any IIc disks) Consecutive boots fail and show more and more garbage on the screen. The...

Apple IIc - no beep, no drive seek, no video (maybe) - worth repairing?

A friend gave me an Apple IIc that hasn't been used in decades. It worked when it was last used. It was dusty but appeared in good condition. He no longer had the power supply, mouse, or any of the disks. So I ordered a power supply online (yikes the originals are pricey!). I got the PSU and...

    WPA2 for PowerBooks/iBooks?

Thanks gentlemen. I kinda figured that was the situation. I'd rather not create a separate WEP/WPA1 network for these devices. The risk/reward quotient just isn't worth it. It'll just use a wired connection when I need to. It's not like it happens very often.

Thanks Byrd! I'll give that a shot.

    iBook / PowerBook4,3 won't recognize 512MB SODIMMs

Can anyone corroborate that they have upgraded an PowerBook4,3 to 640MB of RAM?

    iBook / PowerBook4,3 won't recognize 512MB SODIMMs

I have an iBook / PowerBook4,3 model A1005 (600MHz PPC) that I am trying to upgrade the RAM on. According to everymac.com it can take a single 512MB PC100 SODIMM. So I bought one and when I plugged it in, the iBook only reconized 256MB of additional RAM. So I thought that the stick might be...

    WPA2 for PowerBooks/iBooks?

OK, I have a couple of old Mac that included AirPort cards. Of course, they won't connect to my "modern" 2GHz WiFi because it demands WPA2 and the AirPort card seems to only support WPA. Is there a magic combination of OS / driver / card that will allow an old iBook or PowerBook to connect to...

    SDXC via PCMCIA?

Well, I received my PCMCIA-to-SD card, and it's not a pretty picture so far. Every time I insert the card into my PowerBook 1400c/166, it locks it up. I have to pull the power to get control back. I'm planning to mess about with it, change formats, sd card sizes, and see if I can get it working...

Jaz SCSI Card in a Windows PC?

I happened to pick up a pair of internal Jaz drives that each came with a PCI SCSI card. The SCSI cards are Iomega branded, model ABP-960U and have an AdvanSys ASC3050B chipset. Unfortunately, I can't find any drivers for these cards for Windows 10. Does anyone here know if they can be made to...

    SDXC via PCMCIA?

Well, I just ordered one from Amazon (SD-to-PCMCIA). It says 32gig is the limit, but I will test it and find out if that is indeed the case.

    PowerBook 1400c/166 or 1400cs/166?

LOL, thanks LaPorta. I was thinking the C has the better screen, but also wondered about longevity. I actually have three. One is a 1400cs (117 MHz). I don't wanna be a hog and keep them all. I'm going to give two of them to a good home.

    PowerBook 1400c/166 or 1400cs/166?

I'm lucky enough to be able to choose between two beautiful PowerBook 1400's. The only difference between the two is one is a 1400c and one is a 1400cs. Which would you choose and why? Thanks, Tom
