SuperMac Thunder 24 Daughtercard Questions

Recently got a SuperMac Thunder 24 from a member on here with two add on daughter cards. Would like some clarification on what the difference of the two daughtercards is?

The first is a SuperMac Image Processing Accelerator. The second says GX on it.

According to LEM, the GX one adds "twin AT&T 3210 DSPs, is available to make this card into a SuperMac Thunder II GX 1152". Is that correct?

So the image accelerator board makes it a Thunder 24 with a processor DSP board, but the GX board makes it a Thunder II GX with DSPs?

The GX and Image Processing Accelerator is the same thing. The IPA or GX is a DSP processors that speed the Photoshop filters.

Got it, so pretty much same product different name? I noticed both boards look a little different, guessing the GX adds a few other things versus the IPA.

The function is exactly the same, but I believe the GX card runs the DSPs at 80MHz; the IPA either 64 or 66MHz.
