Of course it's by no means authentic looking, but I'm pretty pleased with this $25 'case' that I bought via eBay that's designed to hold a iPhone 6/7/8. It's made of silicon, they also make a larger model for those iPhones in the plus size. It hints at just how easy it (hypothetically) could be...
OSX has always been so great in my use regarding class-compliant USB audio interfaces & class-compliant USB-MIDI interfaces, but I figured I'd better check w someone w PPC OSX experience before assuming my assumptions because MIDI interfaces on OS9 seem to be beyond my current frame of...
Thx muchly, Cory. Yes, since posting I did move onto another image (or at least from another source, I didn't even bother to check if the files are the exact same size). I'm thinking what's happening here, though, is an issue with my DVD+R media, I will have to try another type. The drive I'm...
Just aquired (via another 68kMLA member!) a beautiful iBook G4 running 10.4 and I would like to install 10.5 Leopard on it. Actually, previous owner had partitioned the disk with a half where 10.4 is installed and the other partition was already reserved for 10.5 but he was told that the iBook...
I'm revisiting my old posts from over 10 years ago, the time when I became fantatic about collecting old Macs. MarkS, I think we'd both be happy that you were indeed wrong - I'm not sure it impressed people, but there was an incredible amount of enjoyment that day, I still remember it! It was...
Wow my 5300cs just died one day (as in no more signs of life when pressing on). Never investigated. This inspires me to take a look under the hood. Ha it started up sooooooo slowly I think to 8.6? I never gave it a fresh OS install so every time it was opening Eudora and tryna fetch from the...
Never heard of these ROMinator kits but that's a fantastic idea - when my Classic's HD stopped working I remembered about its special System 6 in ROM - bam! Came right back to life. I've got a dual-floppy SE, maybe I should look into ROMinator for that.
I get a bad taste in my mouth looking at...
In a day or two I'll get a chance to get over to my parents' house (where the eMac lives) ! I aquired it the same week I had to help my parents move from a house they'd lived at for 44 years, to a new place, so I didn't as much as get a chance to turn it on!
Now the monitor doesn't show ANYTHING, the screen is only dark (still I can hear the machine starting via the headphone port). And I can hear its internal hard drive going.
How hard might it be to fix said 'blown component on the analog board'? I guess I should open it up, take & post pics.
Thanks for these responses. I'll have to take a look, I wasn't aware of the four generations of eMacs. I haven't even tried to boot it up yet. I assume all models would have the same set of ports (have to use model# or startup to determine which type it is, can't identify like a G3 iMac based on...
I assume that's why the creator of the Floppy Emu went the direction of using the external floppy drive connector rather than the faster SCSI bus (like SD2SCSI), because the Floppy Emu product starts up my dual-floppy Macintosh SE no problem whatsoever.
This is a FDHD (dual floppy) SE model I've got. Never had one before without an internal hard disk. I also have an external Apple floppy drive reader - that one is ALSO 800k unfortunately.
techknight, thanks for this suggestion but is that not like eraser as in on a standard #2 pencil? If it's...
Hello folks, I used to only collect Compact Macs / 68ks and was a Windows user in the G4 era so I really have next to 0 experience with this era of Macs. I aquired it because I could for free, it's blemish-free, not altogether a bad looking Mac, figured I'd stick it in a closet for many years...
Ten years ago I scored a 3400cs on eBay for just $30. It was considered very un-cool at the time. The passive TFT display was pretty lame as people say, but it was my first laptop or color display vintage Mac. I really enjoyed using that machine for typing lyrics. I was even able to play mp3...
