    Transformers for homemade LocalTalk/PhoneNet dongles

This may not be useful (I'm far from an expert on the technical side of things), but I know NeitherNet adapters don't ship with transformers and do work (though presumably they need external termination).

Announcing QuokkADB, a marsupial-powered alternative to USB Wombat

Really appreciate the report that hotplug works--I had to take the Wombat out of a similar desk setup for that reason (plus it might not play well with the webcam that's attached to the same hub). I might have to pick one up!

Farallon MacRecorder and Audio Passthrough ?

Unfortunately it looks like I just got an empty box, but it looks like it might be on the Macintosh Garden. Apologies if you've already looked there, though.

Farallon MacRecorder and Audio Passthrough ?

Let me look when I get home! I have the box but I can't remember if the disk was included.

Farallon MacRecorder and Audio Passthrough ?

I'd be interested in this too--I have a MacRecorder I picked up at VCF Midwest a few years ago that I haven't found much use for.

    Fried SE/30 Ethernet Card?

Okay, two months later I finally got around to reflowing the solder joints on the connector and it works! I'm going to leave the machine on for a while and keep testing, but I'm hoping this is going to be working for the duration now. Thanks for everyone's help, especially so many years in the...

    Fried SE/30 Ethernet Card?

Pulled the card out to take some pictures: Looks like U15 and U16 are socketed on my board--I'm going to remove them, apply some contact cleaner, and reseat them. I doubt it's that simple, but might as well. After that I'll take a look at MacsBug and see where I can go from there. I am somewhat...

    Fried SE/30 Ethernet Card?

Just received the oscillators and swapped the one on the main board. After testing continuity and making sure it works as expected I'm still getting the same three errors: RAM test failed at f99d0000H, expect: 0H, actual 0H NIC Arbitration Failed Loopback 3 test Failed I'll try to swap the one...

    Fried SE/30 Ethernet Card?

Really appreciate the insight here--I'll definitely start with the clock crystal since it's cheap, but after that I'll probably head over to Tinker Different and ask there. The RAM error is repeatable and shows up every time I run the test, but there's never any actual disagreement between the...

    Fried SE/30 Ethernet Card?

Here's a screenshot of the Asante troubleshooting tool, by the way, in case it's helpful:

    Fried SE/30 Ethernet Card?

Thank you both! These are super helpful--I've ordered a few oscilators and hopefully I can get this up and going sometime this week or next.

    Fried SE/30 Ethernet Card?

I don't have one handy but I can absolutely pull them tonight. I appreciate the tip about the traces on the back of the board--I have a Hakko desoldering gun that should hopefully make this straightforward, but considering the value of one of these boards I'm still planning to be pretty careful...

    Fried SE/30 Ethernet Card?

The card is detected and shows up in Asante's troubleshooting tool, but fails every test I throw at it (specifically, it sends but never receives packets). The oscillator is a good call--it at least feels right given the symptoms. I'll take a look tonight and make an order.

    Fried SE/30 Ethernet Card?

Bringing this thread back from the dead: this card (an Asante MacCon) is profoundly cursed. In both of my SE/30 logic boards, the card runs into an issue where it works on initial install, keeps working for a bit, then fails and stays failed even on cold boot. The frustrating thing is that it...

    Headless PCI GPU in Quicksilver

I've had a Quicksilver kicking around for a few years that I'm finally getting around to restoring. I'd ideally like it to be a hybrid OS 9/X machine, but I'm hitting a rough spot trying to find a suitable upgrade to the stock Geforce2 MX. It doesn't seem like most of the performant OS 9 GPUs...
