BeOS PowerPC Software and GoBe Productive

Going to test CorumIII on my PowerCenter now, installing now. I tried to take a screenshot of the installation window, but for some reason the graphic on top gets messed every time: Also for some reason ZIP archive created on BeOS won't open on my Mac, every zip-util complains the file...

Look what the Easter bunny brought

Neat! I don't think I've ever seen a license agreement seal on a floppy disk shutter before! Surely that would cause issues by either the user breaking the shutter while removing the sticker, or by sticking the disk into a drive with the sticker still attached...

ZuluSCSI Compact Homebrew - A Smaller, Faster, and More Capable RP2040-based SCSI emulator

I have two of the Homebrews (and soon a thrid) and I like it :) In case somebody finds this useful; I created a small 3D-printable frame to give the Homebrew PCB some protection. I've been using mine at the end of a long SCSI-cable as an external device and it's been flapping around in the...

BeOS PowerPC Software and GoBe Productive

Ah, SheepShaver's default windowed refresh rate was 7.5Hz, that too 😅 On the software I linked, there is a Napster client, too  BeShare appears to have been a file sharing tool of some kind, too? I am baffled by the Baxter's UI: it wants me to add a nick on the left column, but unlike...

BeOS PowerPC Software and GoBe Productive

BaxY is an IRC client called Baxter, looks nice but I can't figure out how to add a Nick to a server (won't connect before that). If I select a preset server, there are invisible nicks in the list and it at least attempts to connect. Becasso, wget, BeBreakout, Doom (!) and Tetris do work...

BeOS PowerPC Software and GoBe Productive

Wow, thanks (for the links and the new uploads)! (y) While on archive.org, I noticed this: https://archive.org/details/beos-collection. I had a look at the Games and Soft directories and there are subdirs for PPC on both (but also others among the other files, judging from the filenames)...

BeOS: a Powercenter 132 sound issue with graphics card

Have you tried with different keymaps? I changed mine from whatever the default was to Finnish (to match my keyboard) and I almost feel like the ctrl + command keys were swapped (I had troubles finding how to copy&paste), perhaps it's different depeding on the keymap? On-board VRAM versus the...

BeOS: a Powercenter 132 sound issue with graphics card

Aha: it's ctrl + shift + 3 to take a full-screen screenshot, it saves to the home directory! 📸 The thread is moving towards a general BeOS-PPC tips, but I am fine with that! 😄

BeOS: a Powercenter 132 sound issue with graphics card

CL-Amp; the options menu and file info etc. are hidden in the vertical bar next to the display (in both skins), this took some trying to find 😅 I find it neat that I can just give it an URL http://www.radio-paralax.de:8000/ (the trailing slash is important) and it just works 🎵 (Also a photo...

BeOS: a Powercenter 132 sound issue with graphics card

Yeah I guess using just the onboard video would be the easy fix, and I must admit using much higher than 800x600 or 1024x768 doesn't really do that much good in old OS'. The MacOS drivers for the Matrox were also somewhat clunky. Under BeOS with the onboard video I can set it to 800x600 with 8...

BeOS: a Powercenter 132 sound issue with graphics card

Inspired by @Phipli's thread about PPC BeOS software, I got my PowerComputing Powercenter 132 back on the desk and finally tried some more BeOS on it :geek: Using a pre-made BeOS image I was very quickly up and running, and mostly everything seemed to work fine out of the box. The only...

BeOS PowerPC Software and GoBe Productive

+1 for the archival efforts, thanks! I'd be happy to test it too, although I can't access my PPC-BeOS machine too often. Was the GoBe Productive suite released for PPC or was there an Intel version as well? (Also to note: my PowerCenter 132 is now running BeOS succesfully; I had issues with...

BeOS PowerPC Software and GoBe Productive

Thanks for the link Skate! Thanks, good points! I found this sentence "All 603- and 604-based Power Computing models are supported" so I am somewhat hopeful... I think I was at the time using the built-in graphics the machine has. I now have a Matrox Millenium II (mac-rom flashed) in it too...

BeOS PowerPC Software and GoBe Productive

Hah, nice to see this thread, just as during the last two weeks or abouts, I've been experimenting for the first time (for me) with BeOS on x86. After some struggle with finding a compatible GPU and then drivers for my sound card, it's now running nicely on my Pentium I 233Mhz with 64MB of RAM...

    portable power adaptor cap list

It's glued together and needs to be cracked open, can be done relatively cleanly (pics from my PB100s PSU):
