I had another theory: maybe large files slow down the SdFat library (what's used under the hood). The disk file I was testing on was 1 GB, I'm going to try a 100MB file and see if there's any difference.

This image is 224 MB and has System 6.0.8 installed. I used Network Software Installer 1.4.4, because 1.5.1 as specified on the RaSCSI wiki requires System 7. I installed AppleTalk 58.1.3 and all the EtherTalk and TokenTalk drivers. The drivers probably aren't needed, but they're there anyway...

Restoration, to me, is more rewarding when necessary components (outer case, for example) don't just fall apart. I think it would be a much wiser investment to go for machines known to be reliable, with n years of innovation behind them.

The only issue with those later models is that they use an IDE drive, and there aren't a lot of solid-state replacements for those. The mSATA adapters appear to be the only option, and those are not renowned for reliability. BlueSCSI is much more appealing to me.
