Ya maybe you could turn SFTP off on the Macbook but TBH I think the way you got it set up is better. Were I to do the same I could just push files onto the SE over wifi from the comfort of my lounge chair. As it is now I prep everything in /pub on the laptop, turn the FTP Share on, then make my...

I have FTPShare loaded on my G3 Powerbook and Fetch FTP on the SE. So I've been loading software on the powerbook and pulling them off with Fetch. I never considered making the SE the server that sounds like a good approach too. As for the IP - from what I understand MacTCP doesn't get it's IP...

Just to close out this thread I thought I would update that I got it working. Pretty sure changing to a patched version of MacTCP (v2.1) is what did the trick. I also deleted and reinstalled the asante drivers too so could have been that or combination of the two. My big take-away is fooling...

Asante Mac Con SE and MacTCP

SUCCESS! I can't say for certain that using the patched MacTCP 2.1 was what did the trick but I think so. I also re-installed the asante drivers and removed/reinstalled MacTCP v 2.0.6 before attempting the patch. Before I did that I tried to swap out the v2.0.6 with an already patched v2.1 but...

Thank you for the link! I haven't come across that one. I wonder what the unofficial patched MacTCP is all about. I do not have an FTP Client but I can ping FTP servers using MacTCP Ping. That's whats so confounding I have been able to ping everything I can think of but have been unable to...

I know! I've been stuck here for a couple days now >:( it's super irritating. I get the same results using an IP address in telnet. Also if the DNS was wonkey, wouldn't MacTCP Ping have trouble resolving addresses too? I really don't think there is much more to be changed with the Mac which is...

I think it's set that way. I don't see those specific options but this is how I have it: Under the more button on MacTCP I have it set to Manual, Class C, with the appropriate gateway and DNS addresses. Don't see anything referencing MacIP. Ahh the starwars telnet - why didn't I think to use...

Asante Mac Con SE and MacTCP

I'm trying to get my Mac SE connected to the internet. Specifically the happymac / floodgap gopher servers. I'm running system 6.0.8 with MacTCP connected to a linksys router flashed with DD-WRT and set up as a client bridge. The port I have the mac plugged into is configured to be 10mbps...

    Asante Mac Con SE Ethernet

I've made some progress! Setting the port to half-duplex 10Mbit did the trick. It took a facotry reset to get back into DD-WRT web interface and every time I apply changes to the advance settings it wipes the web interface out. I'm sure there is some "web inerface" checkbox that gets unchecked...

Thank you for all the tips and advise. I've been messing around all morning trying to access the UI for the router. No dice. It just times out. Can't seem to connect to it via telnet either. It's serving the internet just fine but I can't get into the control panel. Did it's IP change? I don't...

    Asante Mac Con SE Ethernet

Ya I have been trying different things there and the picture was taken after a few changes. I started with the first 2 addresses which were my ISP's primary and secondary DNS. The modem's IP (192.168.0.1) was a suggestion from a friend I did not think was going to work. Oh, and what I am doing...

    Asante Mac Con SE Ethernet

I have a mac SE running system 6.0.8 that I've recently installed an Ethernet card in. Trying to get it connected to the internet and not having any luck at all. I've installed the Mac Con SE drivers and MacTCP. The troubleshooter that came on the Mac Con SE driver disk passes Memory Controller...
