    Next acquisition...

I've been somewhat out of the game for a little bit, and recently just started messing around with the vintage Macs again. Last night saw a listing on Facebook marketplace and picked them up this morning. The seller had pictures of them working, but so far nothing powers on for me. Caps are...

    Correct 550 HD Sled P/N?

Checked a 520 and 550 I had and they are also installed backwards. I know that at least some of these are original drives on original sleds for the machines. Here’s a picture of what I mean, what looks like a release tab is at the front of the drive not the back.

    Correct 550 HD Sled P/N?

I took apart another 575 this morning and it was using the 815-0446 REV C. The interesting thing I found was that this one was installed backwards compared to how it should be and it doesn't fit the machine if its installed in the correct direction. You have sent me on quite the goose chase haha

    Correct 550 HD Sled P/N?

Scratch all that I just pulled the drive out of my 575 that I have handy and it has 815-0446 REV B in it. So I don't know when they switched parts compared to the service source but I am fairly certain this one is original from the machine.

    Correct 550 HD Sled P/N?

Looks like that is a carrier for a power Mac. I think the part number you want is 922-0621from the service source manual for the 520, 550, and 575. Ive found some sites that listed both part numbers together when they were selling them, but OWC has the 922 part number and shows 4 in stock for...

    Macintosh TV Tuner reference photos

Quite a while ago I pulled the board out of mine and just use the RCA inputs since I didn't really have use for the coax connection anyway and recapping isn't going to happen anytime soon. It will still work in the tv mode using the RCA without the tuner board in the system.

Ok so the printing says CSA (or could be C3A) 12.0MT then it looks like a symbol followed by a capital F. There is no printing on the other side. Here is a zoomed photo:

    Macintosh TV software

The software is a control panel called TV setup. This was another post where we were talking about the TV software: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/macintosh-tv-tuner-software-drivers.4668/#post-52712 Here is a link to the software...

Mac IIsi SCSI CD boot issues

Is it an apple cd drive or other brand?  If it boots from cd but the drive doesn't show up when you boot from other device I would say it needs software.  Have you tried using CD-ROM toolkit or cd sunrise something like that in your working install? actually just reread your post and few more...

I quit with mac 68k idea of using a large media devices or transfering data

Not trying to be rude, but maybe if you stopped trying to move in 14 directions at the same time you would actually have something working.  There are plenty of us that have no problems networking our old machines, using old CD-ROM drives with our machines, and using modern devices to transfer...

AEK typing gibberish in text entry

I could be totally wrong because I'm not near a machine right now but I would make sure that one of the control keys (or one of the Apple keys, can't remember which one would cause just the boxes) are not stuck in an applied position. That would make sense for what is being typed when you press...

New to Mac, got two SE/30s, hardware ID and some basic questions

As long as the capacitor is of the correct rating and installed correctly it shouldn't matter what type it is.  As for why the markings are backwards from how we expect them I have no idea. I assume you cleaned the board after removing the old caps, if not you'll need to do that. If you post...
