BGE's take on the Quadra 900/950 ATX PSU Mod

That I'm not so sure. I chose the 630 because of its strong 5V power output but this mod is theoretically compatible with anything that has an ATX 22/24 plug. >33 Amps for 5V is nearly unobtainable these days. But there are plenty of PSUs with 25A outputs.

BGE's take on the Quadra 900/950 ATX PSU Mod

You pulled up the data sheet for the 630H and not the "regular" 630, that's why ;) I would only recommend the latter for the mod, as the 630H can only do 16A on the 5V rail instead of the 630's 35A. Only caveat, it needs at least 500mA on the 12V rail to be happy.

BGE's take on the Quadra 900/950 ATX PSU Mod

Hi @robin-fo ! It will work without it but I noticed that the Bicker PSU was having to work harder (and therefore hotter) in order to keep things going. So for stability/longevity reasons, it's better to have a load resistor when using newer fans... There are only four scenarios: - Solid State...

BGE's take on the Quadra 900/950 ATX PSU Mod

Okay, so the resistor is heating up quite a bit and since space (or rather lack thereof) is a problem, the only safe place to stick it in place would be at the back, where the exhaust is... But even a Noctua industrialPPC at full speed will not reach that far. So we would need another one like...

BGE's take on the Quadra 900/950 ATX PSU Mod

DC Board Update Wirewound resistor (Digikey Link, I just bought one from Farnell, also available on Mouser but not on Arrow at the moment) + Can be placed anywhere (not only on the PCB itself). Ideally close to the fan where it does not interfere with the PSU's heatsinks. + Should be way over...

BGE's take on the Quadra 900/950 ATX PSU Mod

Notifications are on but I wasn't made aware of any activity. Happy to see someone else working on this project! One thing to keep in mind @WillJac PLEASE double check the pinout on the Quadra side before you plug it in! The cables were meant to be soldered without a header and I am pretty...

Adjusting sound volume with keyboard shortcuts on 68k Macs

The thing is, I don't think there is a particular setup that makes sense for all non-AINSI users. I am familiar with three layouts: QWERTZ (German), AZERTY (French) and to get out of a pickle when for example the tilde key is hardcoded to some function (console for example), the US AINSI...

Adjusting sound volume with keyboard shortcuts on 68k Macs

@Crutch The CD Access bug is not present on real hardware. No idea why it causes Basilisk to crash with that extension enabled. I use the same HD image... Looking forward to the next version! Hopefully with the White Box fix and (?) with adjustable keyboard shortcuts, as using it with anything...

Adjusting sound volume with keyboard shortcuts on 68k Macs

Correct! I also have LiteSwitch (pretty awesome... allows you to switch between apps with Cmd-Tab) but it was not the issue. My problem was caused by Apple's Photo CD Access extension. Once removed it works fine in Basilisk. Again, I'll have to try on a real Mac soon to verify that! @Crutch Do...

Adjusting sound volume with keyboard shortcuts on 68k Macs

Just wow! From an idea to functioning code working on an old Mac in how long? :) Even more impressed! Will have to try out on the SE/30 on Saturday. On Basilisk, if I set the keyboard to the US Layout, I get a bomb with the unimplemented trap error. But at least the popup is there! This is...

Adjusting sound volume with keyboard shortcuts on 68k Macs

Wow, again I'm impressed @Crutch ! My target system is 7.5.1 (I never upgraded my SE/30's original install), I know there's been some important under the hood changes between 7.5.1 and 7.5.5 but I don't remember if sound was modified... The main system volume would make the most sense, and if...

Adjusting sound volume with keyboard shortcuts on 68k Macs

Hello everyone, Looking for an extension which lets you turn the volume up/down using key combinations. I found a few programs that could do the job, but I am pretty sure I've seen one in the past that had a OSX-like overlay like this: Other suitable programs for reference...

SE/30 with a curious serial number

I never paid that much attention to SE Serials, but now that you mention it, here's what I've got SE FDHD that was officially upgraded to an SE/30 - CK0020SPB02. The label at the back is, as you showed in your post, special to this upgrade. SE FDHD (non upgraded) - CK017341B01 SE 1/20 (bought...

Building an internal grayscale card for the SE/30

Amazing work! just my 2 cents: 1/ Some Micons had a toggle at the back to switch between the internal and external display. Could this be implemented in @GeekDot's new ROM? Sign me up for two of these if you can manage that! I'd love to set up one of my SE/30s with the 50MHz 030 and a color...

BGE's take on the Quadra 900/950 ATX PSU Mod

Success! The switch fits the opening! It almost looks like it's meant to be there from the factory. There's only one small inconvenience: the tabs on the switch are slightly narrower compared to the ones Apple/Delta used. In order to keep things as simple as possible (and to prevent...
