10 PRINT CHR$(205.5+RND(1)); : GOTO 10
This simple oneliner in Commodore BASIC has become quite famous for its nice complex output:
For this year's #MARCHintosh I asked myself, why should only the 8-bitters have all the fun? Sure, the Mac promised to not ever bother users with all that...
It "should" work as you describe but I always go through an emulator where I mount the image from the SDcard. It's much easier to preserve the File Forks that way.
Basilisk2 SheepShaver, Minivmac.. pick one
This is great to hear, since I am a Debian person anyway.
For 68k Macs (your other post), I'm not so much interested in running Linux anymore, but on a Quad G5 this is another story. I also have a Sun Ultra 45 (their last SPARC Workstation) where Debian is no longer really feasible. OpenBSD is...
You would not believe, I'm currently working on the exact same enclosure - cleaning, a bit of retrobriting and so on. It still works, so I did not plan to do a recap, having enough other things to do.
So thank you for the warning! I will definitely swap at least this cap before I turn it on...
Sucess - luckily Apple sometimes did use standard parts in the past. I got a quiet fan and spray-painted it white very carefully so that the paint would not make it imbalanced.
The iMac is now working again and even quieter as before. Images to show the new fan before and after painting and...
It must be that the white fans lead to more rigorous cleaning because the dirt is more visible.
I had the fan out already when I broke it, so replacement should be straightforward. Still I was quite disappointed. There I had the perfectly functioning nice newly acquired Mac, and then this...
Well after some sleep and getting over the initial shock, I ordered a 92 mm quiet 12v case Fan and will try to carefully spray-paint it white. I'll report about success or failures...
Well, I suppose your're not in Europe so that ist not really a viable option, but thanks for the suggestion anyway!
Today I scored this 800 Mhz first generation iMac G4. It's in a nice shape but very dirty inside. So I went on to clean it thoroughly - and broke one of the fan blades. :(
This has never happened to me before, but in my defence - I had to clean it hard. Well any hints on how to get a fan...
Probably not. Having enough time and programmers one could recreate the necessary software of course. But then you hit the next problem which is that computers able to run MacOS 9 are too slow and do not have enough memory for the modern web. Most modern websites require to 100s of Megabytes of...
One clarification - the floppy transition was from "auto-inject" to "manual-inject" Thus the deeper notch which enables you to push the disk farther inwards. All of these auto-eject the disks.
This is pretty awesome. Debian Potato was the first Linux I installed (While I was happily running MacOS 9 and X). I installed it on a Performa 475 back around potato's release and took my first steps into this new World
Nowadays I use Linux exclusively and Macs are only a Nostiagia thing. But...
Great, this was the post I was looking for. I saw it months ago and did not find it yesterday! I'm NOT looking forward to redoing the LCS but what has to be done, has to be done. Luckily I'm not afraid of taking things apart and am usually able to get them together again - So there's that at least
For a few months I was eyeing a working G5 Quad including a 23" Cinema HD Display with DVI Adapter that was offered for pickup at a price of 50 Euros!
I always shied away from the Quads due to their water cooling issues, but at that price I could hardly say no. Only it was about 9 hrs drive...
