So I just bought this guy and I want to fix it up internally it looks fine, it even had a Sonnet G3 card nice little added bonus there. I already ordered caps but I have three main questions #1 Where do I find replacement housing? #2 is the WGS 1650/66 a pop in bezel that can be scraped into a donor case or is it part of the top shell? #3 Are these rare at all? Photos below and comments or ideas are appreciated.

A donor 6100 case + heat to remove the sticker badges will do the job! Nice score on the Sonnet G3

Hehe, I was eying that one ;)
The shipping turned out to be too much for me in the end.
Glad it went to someone in the community!

I have been for a while as well and just figured eh let’s pull the trigger on it. I still need to find some housing for it but I’m afraid the work group server top case is hard to come by.

IIRC the case itself is identical to the rest of the 61xx series - It's just the badge and a question of ROM on the motherboard. And the shipped software, of course.
If you find a donor PM 6100/60, 6100/66 or Performa 611x you're good.

Wonderful, I just hate to lose that badging though.

Heck, you could use the case lid and floppy drive from a Centris 610, then just swap the badge over. There'd be no "PowerPC" logo on it, but it'd work. I did that for a client back in '01, who needed a Mac a little bit more modern than her Centris 610 for internet purposes. Picked up a 6100/66 at RE-PC, took her drive, floppy drive, and case lid, swapping the CD-ROM bezel over, then updated the OS to something a bit more modern (think it had 7.1 on it when I started working on it - bumped it up to 8.1). Worked well.

The 'Workgroup Server' text is silkscreen on the case lid itself, not a badge, so you'd be missing that if you swap to another non-WGS case.

#3 Are these rare at all?
I've seen quite a lot Workgroup Server models on eBay over the past few years. The WGS 6150 was just a 6100 in another case with a few small differences, it's not a special/rare machine in my opinion.

I figured well I guess I find a case now.

Other than having been dropped on its ass, that case looks pretty good. Nice find! I'd look for one dropped on its face or crushed in a front quarter panel (preferably with additional feets) make clean cuts on both and stitch a together a Doctor Frankenstein production, preserving the best of both.

Bonus points available for actual drilling and stitching. 🤪

I think the top case is salvageable bottom case no so much, I get the feeling the plastics on these are very brittle.
