SE/30 Screen Artefacts

Hi everbody

After running for some minutes, some serious pixel errors appear on my SE/30‘s internal screen. The logic board is a replica with all-new passives, the AB is not yet recapped. Snooper doesn‘t appear to find any RAM errors but the DIP PALs get quite hot (ca. 50° C). Interestingly, the pixel errors appear to move with windows…

Updates:
- After running for ca. 10 minutes, the pixel errors disappear again ( -> heat has distributed evenly??)
- Appears with stock and Rominator ROM

I was even able to make screenshots of it.. What is going on here?? The ClarisWorks canvas on the third picture mostly stayed normal...

I just built one of the replica boards:

- The PALs do get quite hot normally
- The RAM test doesn't check the video RAM, I think(?)

This kinda looks like a failing bit (or more), but I can't understand why some stuff is drawing correctly.

Ideas:

- Look at the schematic and recheck the soldering around the video logic
- Assuming you socketed the video RAM, you could try grabbing some NOS parts and swapping them in

Caveat emptor: there are people on here with more experience than me who could have seen this before and have a better idea ;-)

Try some faster VRAM. For some reason I had similar issues on one board I built. Not exactly sure what causes it, but faster VRAM fixed it.

Also PALs getting really hot is perfectly normal.

Thanks @Bolle; du you have a suggestion which model number I could try and where to look for it?

I applied the fix like on your photo and apparently it did work! Although I didn‘t have enough time for extensive testing, I had it on for around ten minutes or so and I had no longer any artefacts appearing.
Thank you so much!
