Colour Classic - screen won´t turn on

Hello, I´ve some trouble with my Colour Classic, please let me explain. I bought this CC as not working, the seller said it won´t turn on. A few hours later when I was at home again, I tried it again and it chimed and was booting, perfect I thought. But it didn´t last long and it seems, that when I shut down the CC it won´t boot again immediately. The CC had to stay connected, it only turned on occasionally.
Then I recapped the logicboard and almost all caps from the analog board. Now it starts immediately after turning it on (switch on the back), no soft start from keyboard. It chimes loud and clear, green control light is shinging too, but the screen won´t turn on. I also tried swapping the logicboard with my second CC and there it works great, so the problem should be found on the analog board.
Of course, the SCSI hard drive also broke...

Did someone had a similar problem or a solution to get it up and running?

On my SE30, it was the video board attached to the CRT - I was pretty shocked to see dry joints. I realize the Color Classic is a bit different, but it might be worth checking when safely discharged.

While I have limited experience (fixing only 3 Color Classics) -- they all had leaky caps on the analog and main logic boards. I've always started the fix by recapping and it worked all 3 times. IIRC, the analog board is notorious for failing caps, so start there and see it goes.

I'm having the same issue. LB and AB completely recapped, same symptoms as you describe except soft start works on mine. Just no video. I tried another recapped LB in it, same issue, so very likely analog board related.

The ABs are troublesome on these, low quality/cost units just like what they had in the Classic/Classic II as well. I'm afraid I don't know the exact cause - I had a similar thing, my CII would power up, but there was no chime and no video. That was a logicboard issue but I've seen it both ways round (bad AB causing no video, bad LB causing no video). Checking the voltages from the AB would be a good place to start (careful, high voltages are there too), and checking for dry joints.

The other thing to note is that after all this time the LB connectors seem to be a bit unreliable, or at least they are on mine. I've several times had to finesse the connector to get video to work properly...

Huh, that's an interesting suggestion. Audio is spotty on mine too, maybe it's all related to that edge connector. How did you finesse it to get a better fit?

Check that all your new caps on the analog board are properly soldered and facing the correct direct Would be where I‘d start first.
