it would be interesting to find out if any of these guys actually made any money or if it was just a service / hobby type of thing.

I wouldn't think a lot of money is to made selling 68k software, unless it is something really rare or that is still somewhat useful. Early versions of Photoshop and Office and like that still get high prices on ebay. I can't see childrens games and things like that being worth much.
