My first ever non-eBay conquest. Craigslist. Included keyboard and mouse.

First tell me what you would have paid (be honest), and then I'll tell you what I paid.
Single 1Ghz chip. 512 MB RAM. DVD/CD-RW. No bluetooth. No Airport. No extra cards.

Well I love love a bargain (who doesn't?) so I'll say what I think fair market value might be...which I'd guess at $100-200.

But it's late and my Mac value-o-meter may be off. At least I had the guts to go first.

Guess as to the real cost: $75? I think you're hinting it was low.

I'm trying to cheat and find it on CL. IN the process I also spotted this G4 Cube for $100: http://myrtlebeach.craigslist.org/sys/2967739232.html

The MDD is a better Mac, but I usually see Cubes commanding more than their performance is worth.

EDIT: I give up on cheating and trying to find the listing. SC just has too many different areas to search and I'm way too lazy to use Google Maps. All I was willing to do is search "G4" in each of the computers sections. I should probably remember more SC geography from when I worked at T-Mobile and was on a team supporting former SunCom customers after we gobbled them up to get spectrum in North and South Carolina, and parts of Georgia.

I think you made a great choice, especially with the matching monitor.

No other guesses, eh? Well . . .

She was asking $60. She took $40, and she took that fast so she probably would have taken less.
It was hidden in this auction.

All in all, I'm quite pleased with myself. It's nowhere near the gonzo free hauls a bunch of you guys have had, but for my first real conquest, I feel pretty good.

That's a good price. There are listings here that want $40 for the little 15" Studio alone. FW800 was the first of the OS X-only booters.
Classic: Too many to list. See http://www.applefool.com for details.

Very good deal. Why didn't you tell us it came with the internet cord? That just seals the deal. :P (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Like mcdermd said, the monitor alone is often valued at what you ended up paying.

My guess was close to her asking price! You could probably give it a better ad and flip it for double your money if you wanted to. Not saying that you should, just that you could. I used to do that years ago with local ads and surplus.
