Mac 512K server update.

Postby napabar » 10 May 2012, 03:20

Hey everyone!

It's been a bit since I've had anything new to post about my Mac 512K experiments, but wanted to note a couple of things.

First, with Mobile Me shutting down, I had to move my site. It's now simply http://www.nilesmitchell.com. I have a Mac 512K section where you can still download the EasyShare demo and watch my videos.

Second, as some of you may have read in an earlier post, I tracked down the creator of EasyShare, Jay Eaglstun, on LinkedIn. I wasn't able to contact him, however, without being a paid member. So I finally bit the bullet and bought a one month subscription so I could send him an Inmail. I hope to be able to get a full, non-demo version of EasyShare to give to the community, or perhaps he remembers a backdoor hack to stop making the demo timeout after 10 minutes. Who knows? He hasn't responded yet, but it's only been a couple of days, and who knows how often he checks LinkedIn.

For the future, I have my eye on a certain cool, unique device coming out this fall, and my head is spinning on how I can possibly get it talking to a Mac 512K! :beige:

Yeah, so my mind is kind of blown. I just watched a 512Ke open an image that had just been taken with an iPhone moments before. Never in my life have I seen an image of the immediate surroundings on a compact Mac.

Wow.

It looks like you're running MultiFinder on that Mac. Is that necessary to run it as a server?

Nope, no Multi-Finder here. Just good old-fashioned System 4.1!
