iMac G3 (Graphite) DVD Software Restore Disc

Postby Concorde1993 » 07 Feb 2011, 18:56

Does anyone have a copy of the DVD restore discs for a 2001 iMac G3 (Graphite), as well as the software installation DVDs?

Please let me know. Thanks.

Actually, I think I do. Back when we had the Summer 2000 Blue iMac DV (400Mhz)

I will look it up. I have it someplace so I will find it

Coius, were you ever able to find those G3 discs?

Unfortunately, I do not. I only really require a copy of the restore discs to install OS 9 (Classic Environment), and World Book. I do not have a copy of OS 9 (only 8 down to 6.0.3), and the Tiger software DVD (which I've owned since it was released) never came with OS 9 installed.

I haven't bothered going to the Apple Store to see if they will help me out as this isn't a "big" issue (and they probably wouldn't have the restore discs anyway for a G3 iMac since it isn't supported by Apple anymore). However, I may give it a shot if the forums can't help (and I've already tried the local ad sites in case anyone asks).

I will get them imaged and up on the server tonight. Life came at me quick so I hadn't been on the forums much. I will look for the discs. I know I have them, I just gotta image them.

I will be doing them in .ISO so I hope that's ok...

Thanks for the reply, Coius. I thought you had forgotten since it had been over a month when you replied to this thread.

That format should be fine with Snow Leopard. I'll let you know if I have any problems once the images are on the site.

Gah! I only have Summer 2000. Which has 9.0.4.

Do you still want it?

Sorry, I thought the DV we had a while back was Summer 2001. I had an indigo 400Mhz iMac DV w/ FireWire 400

Let me see if I can find other discs. I might have something you can use

Well, I have the Software Install CD. I wonder if I could setup a Mac OS 9.2 Disc for you. Let me get back to you on that. I might be able to get a Mac OS 9.2 Disc that would boot on yours.

I vote for just getting a retail 9.2.2 disc. Nice and simple.

Unfortunately, that will not work with my Graphite, as it is a 2001 model running at 700 MHz. Therefore, your restore disc is not compatible with my iMac, as Apple released different restore discs for each version of the iMac, which all have different codes (691-2525A, etc).

Yes, that may work. If you have a spare original that you're willing to part with, let me know. I should probably make a request in the Trading Post for a 9.2 disc, but we'll see what happens here first. These old Graphites aren't worth the extra dough.
