Control Dock??

Postby Olympiaman1010 » 12 Aug 2010, 00:34

Can someone please tell me how to put the pull out tab dock in system 7.5? It is just the control panel looking one with the monitor, sound ect. that I am looking for. I have seen it in numerous pictures and can't seem to figure where or how to go about getting it.

It looks like the one shown here: http://www.macintoshgarden.org/games/risk-deluxe
Thanks,

That's called the Control Strip. You'll have to switch it on in the Extensions Manager - I think there's both an extension and a control panel. Then reboot. If it's not in EM, it's probably not installed.

Also, it's only included in System 7.5 or later (unless you have a PowerBook 500-series, in which case, it came with the copy of 7.1 that came with those machines.)

Control Strip huh? Hmmm, I can't find it though anywhere. Do you think because it was in a school they deleted the extension? Is there anyway to get just that extension? Or would I have to reinstall 7.5.3 which is what I am currently running.

*Update* Ok, I used tomeviewer and put the extension into the control panel. Any ideas why it would give me this message when I try to open it "The control panel "Control Strip" cannot be used with this Macintosh." It is a LCIII with system 7.5.3, from what I thought the control strip was used... Anyone???

You might have the PowerBook-only version.

This is the install that I was using. I think you could use it for a powerbook but I think it should work for the LCIII... Correct me if I am wrong?

You probably need a newer version of Control Strip, such as the one that came with System 7.5.3.
