Anybody running GNU/Linux on m68k?

A/UX, BSD, Linux distros, that sort of thing. Basically any form of *NIX that will run on 68k/PPC Macs.

Anybody running GNU/Linux on m68k?

Postby johnklos » 12 Mar 2010, 02:12

Hi, all,

I'm in the process of trying to bootstrap an m68k GNU/Linux Debian system using a Quadra 650-type machine. I'd like to try to help wherever I can to get things sorted out so that Debian can be more useful on m68k.

Is anyone running an m68k GNU/Linux system?

Thanks,
John

I had actually done this years ago on my Quadra 650 using Debian potato. Took an eternity to get it installed there (let alone for the installer to actually boot up), but I did manage to get a base installation on there. Unfortunately, I ran out of space rather quickly since all I had was a 500 MB hard drive. I might give this another go sometime soon though, it's just a matter of finding the time.

I'm in the process of trying to get my head around how to get bootstrapped and what the issues are which are holding up sid (the equivalent of NetBSD-current) and squeeze (the next stable release):

If anyone can help, please let me know. I'm confused...
