Fitting a PAL Encoder card

Postby ukretrogamer » 07 Mar 2010, 23:44

I recently managed to obtain a PAL Encoder card to give me colour (color) output from my Europlus.

Typically for a card this old, there was no documentation. Is there a recommended slot to fit this into?

Also, the card has a trailing wire (Orange, in my case), which I assume has to be connected to the motherboard somewhere.

Which connector should this wire be attached to?

The PAL card went in slot 7, I believe, since 7 has special video connections. I have not seen a Europlus, but was told there is a single pin connector near slot 7 that the flying lead attached to. If that is not the case, I can go back to my old Apple developer docs and look it up.

Hi

Here's a shot of the area around slot 7. The cable (with single-pin-socket) attached to the card would reach to the connectors to the right of the slot but I've no idea which connector it should go onto (There doesn't appear to be a single pin, just a dual connector above the sky-blue pot and a quad between c13 & c14.

I'd be grateful if you could dig through your docs to find a possible answer.
(Please ignore the dust, etc. This unit is from a pickup this weekend and not my working Europlus)

I've just had a message from the person I bought the PAL Encoder card from. He says's he's found the paperwork for the Encoder card and is posting it on.

Will add to the thread with copy instructions once I've received them.

Thanks for the offer of help.

Hi

The documents arrived. The card must go into slot 7 and the flying lead should plug onto the 3rd pin from the left, on the 4-pin connector shown below.

Thank you. I couldn't remember which pin it was which carried the video signal.
