Why was Mike banned?

Postby redrouteone » 01 Feb 2010, 06:39

Ok I am fairly sure I am crossing a line here. I don't mean any disrespect, but I am going to cross it anyway.

I've been apart of this community getting close to 10 years now. In that time I have always thought the moderation was fair.

I am rather shocked to hear that Mike Richardson was banned. Sure he could be over bearing at times, but I generally though he was a contributing member of this community. I haven't seen any of his actions that out of the usual.

I'm sure many others are asking this question. This is why I ask, to stop the rumors and accusations and just get the facts.

I think it is a fair considering Mike has been contributing to 68mla for over 2 years. A summary of the decision would silence all rumors and questions regarding the situation and allow the board to move forward.

First things first, regardless of what you may hear from him, we don't hate him. There's no major vendetta against him, no conspiracy theories, or anything like that. Really, we wanted him to stay, and modify his behaviour.

There are several reasons behind his banning, such as his attitude problem (which we had warned him about several times, yet most of those times he made no effort to change his attitude). Another reason is that we asked him several times to remove his link to his store from his signature, as we don't allow commercial advertising here. Despite us asking him nicely several times, he still refused.

It is a shame really...we did bend the rules a few times in his favour, which he continued to take advantage of by not modifying his behaviour. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.

Finally, I'd like to remind everyone that as per the rules, all moderator decisions are final, and are not to be debated on the forums.
