In need of power supply for newly aquired IIe...

Postby returningmacuser » 01 Jul 2009, 21:28

First, the good news. I just got a new Apple IIe for free from a friend! It's got a printer, color monitor, and two disk drives.

Now, the bad. The power supply shorted out within just the first couple hours after acquiring this thing. >:( I would like to know if there are any good replacements or repair services I can use.

Hope you can find one. I used to own a IIe and burned up maybe 3 power supplies over the course of 5 years of ownership until I finally found one which seemed more stable. Then I did something stupid and sold it at a garage sale. :( But now I have a IIgs. If you had needed a IIgs power supply I have 3, and a friend of mine named George probably has dozens.

A IIgs power supply will physically fit in a IIe. Late model IIe's used the same power supply as the IIgs though with a different power connector. So to use a IIgs power supply the only thing you'd need to do is change that power connector.
