Macintosh Plus Keyboard M0110A security device / lock

Postby Handsome Dan » 12 Jul 2011, 03:52

I've probably seen a hundred of these keyboards, but only one with this alloy cable lock. It's an Apple branded part with the pre-Mac Motter Tektura font. Any Apple /// people know if this fit somewhere on its case? The plastic curls around the part inside and it's impossible to remove without breaking plastic.

I was going to make a keychain out of it, but my keys are swollen enough as it is - thought someone might like to see it before it is cast away on eBay.

Personally I like it and it's cool to see an actual Apple branded one of these.

However, I know with the compact Macs, it is indeed near impossible to remove them outwards without snapping something but I find they're easily pushed further inwards (the way they were installed) and through the other side. It bends the clips that hold it in place but not enough to snap them as it would if you were levering them to remove it outwards. I hope that makes sense?

Wonder if you can do the same here?

Exactly, take the keyboard apart and carefully push it through the slot. You may need to help pry the plastic from around the base, but be careful as it is more brittle now and can be easily broken if forced too far.
