Dang! When I moved last summer I got disgusted with the two friggin'FUGLY POS 575s that'd been sitting around for several years and I chucked them into the dumpster without thinking to remove the MoBos BEFORE I murdered them.

OOPS! :-/

p.s. my apologies to LC575. :I

edit: forgot to mention that one of the 575s was well on its way to being a full 15" Takky Hack! Drat the luck! :disapprove:

Nope, too big & too deep, IIRC. ISTR, it's a 10" Trinitron in the CC. The Compact Macs are too shallow in depth for ANY Color CRT, AFAIK.

I had a 10" VGA monitor that I Hacked into a Classic along with a Q630/P6360 form factor MoBo back in the day. I wanted to use it for a Benchtop .PDF DevNote & Service Manual Server. Remember, this was a BenchTop Machine, so the UGLIER the BETTER! [}:)]

Here's a shot of what a Color CRT looks like stickin' outta the @$$ end of a Classic.

< piccies posted as promised >

Here's the Fugly @$$end on the DevNote Server:

I was intent upon grafting the Monitor's Knobby Chin onto this Classic Case, so that adjustments would be right where they were supposed to be! i obviously would have gotten the full measure of Downright Fugliness from this Ill-Fated Hybrid! [:D]

Now it's the basis for my MacintoshClassicIIIColorTVp™ Hack! }:)

Nice to see my spare LC575 board in use, classic :) Did it have much RAM on it - was the lack of VRAM in the slots a problem?

The upgrade makes quite a difference, that's for sure. My own CC has the 60Hz 640 x 480 mod and similar specs, it is generally my most used 68K Mac as it's so easy to move around, play with, and pack away.

So how would that compare to a CCII/Performa 275?

With the LC575 board + FPU '040, it will be twice as fast at the 33Mhz '030 in CCII. I did once find an LC550, and stupidly didn't keep the board :p

I'll elaborate further on how this came to pass.
About two months ago on ebay I spotted a color classic in "non-working order"
I won it for $30. The guy lived down the road from me and offered to drop it off. Nice.
I met him with my son in tow to carry the keyboard and mouse. When I reached for my
wallet to pay him, he said don't worry about it! And gave it to me for FREE!
The unit itself looks brand new! I went straight the board and there was
no RAM, VRAM and leaking caps.
It sat in the cupboard and put the word out for the mystic upgrade option.
Got a response from Byrd and he was going to post a LC575 board up to me for nada.
I felt a swap would be better and hope that sometime soon he gets the 4GB ext SCSI drive!
Did it have much RAM on it - was the lack of VRAM in the slots a problem?

I think maybe 8MB, the rest I had lying around just waiting to go mystic!
I have never soldered, though if I do, I will look at the 640x480 mod.
It just seemed easier for me to change a couple of numbers :)
Another thing I'd like to do is get that faceplate sorted...

What are you going to do with the faceplate?

Oops, I meant rear panel.
i.e one from an LC575
Nothing mystic about its appearance from behind.
I think I saw a fellow trooper do this recently and it looked tidy.

I thought you meant the one that says Performa 250! If you don't need the rear cover, I may be interested...
