Got some machines turned over to me few days ago, non 68k or PPC but..

Macbook (late 2007) 2.2Ghz C2D, 1GB RAM, 160GB HD, DVD-+RW, Black. No PSU but i had one unopened macbook PSU saved up. Works fine with 10.6 installed but took the battery from this unit to my wife's same model but white, Macbook. Looks silly with black battery unit, but hey, who's looking at the bottom of the case..

Macbook Pro 15" (early 2008) 2.2Ghz C2D, 2GB RAM, 120GB HD, DVD+-RW. No PSU so can't test this one. Should be working unit. Need to buy replacement PSU and test next week. Already opened up and tightended up the keyboard ribboncable wich was bit loose.

They were given to me for free, "condition unknown" for parts but atleast the Macbook works just fine. Let's see what happens with the Pro as i don't have suitable PSU for it at the moment. Tried (i know it doesn't work) Macbook PSU and the bluelight did light up, battery is flashing one green led but will not start up (needs 84w PSU). Not too bad however. Replacement PSU's cost some 30-50€ unless can borrow one from a friend to try booting it first before making investments.

Congratulations on your conquest!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you should be able to use the MacBook's weaker PSU for the MacBook Pro if you give its battery a few minutes to charge before attempting power up (if it'll take a charge). I've read that people do that in a pinch and it works OK for them.

Nice score...my main, and newest/fastest Mac is actually a black MacBook of the same model, only with 6GB of RAM and a 750GB drive. Was originally white, though it underwent a BlackBook conversion in 2011. Either way, they're still a great machine, I plan on keeping mine as my primary Mac for at least the next 18 months. I'm really hoping that someone comes up with a way to make the final Mountain Lion run on it. Good luck getting the MBP up and running!

Indeed it loads it up, slowly however. Also seems to heat up greatly, if used when it's turned on (had to, installing 10.6 took so long the battery almost went empty). So need to buy real 85W PSU and maybe new battery as well.. and more RAM. Not so cheap anymore... unless... i'll take 2x2GB RAM from my wife's Macbook (used to be my main-machine, bought new back in 2007) and replace with 2x1GB. Her machine is mainly web surfing, so 2GB would be just fine.. also.. her machine have 320GB HD, but it having also Windows 7 on bootcamp also, replacing with 120GB would make it too tight for both.

Scored another black Macbook C2D 2.2Ghz, 1GB RAM, 160GB HD, superdrive. This had battery, no PSU, slight wear on topcover edge, works just fine. That's a keeper for me. Might give this to my daughter for playing children's online games.

The another black MB i got recently have an "almost" broken trackpad button, makes huge noise and click, when pressed. So this basicly means an need for new topcase...

Will give that to my sister as she'll use it with mouse anyway and no need for battery, just need to get an PSU for it. She really needs to get away from the Windows world ASAP, she have crappy Windows XP laptop at the moment as main machine. They already have iBook 12", Powermac G4 450 and i think i gave them once iMac G3 350, some of them are used in their car garage.

Apple might replace the keyboard/top cover for free. They do that with all our MacBooks at work, it's apart of an extended warranty service over a class action lawsuit.

Yes, these are 2007 as well the white one we have (it have cracked topcase). I'm not interested fighting about this with Apple.

Strangely, I just replaced the Top Case on a 2006 MacBook today under the repair extension program without any issue. May be worth looking in to.

really?! how did you do it iMac600? they ran my serial number, and told me that my computer is...vintage. How did you get it to work?

Atleast apple's "Exchange and Repair Extension Programs", do not show such repairs going on anymore.

It's not a repair extention program, it is the "Quality Program". They are done on a per-unit basis so it's up to the Apple service tech to decide if it is covered or not. This pertains to the top case, screen bezel and bottom case of the pre-unibody, plastic MacBooks.

I've found other REPs to be identified as Quality Programs within the parts ordering channels, but correct, they aren't always the same.

For what it's worth, I believe the Core Duo (Early 2006) MacBooks may actually be considered vintage by now, and the first Core 2 Duos MacBooks (Late 2006) will be dropped soon as well. In that case, part replacement isn't always possible.

Bought new PSU 85w, apple original, today from reseller, for i think it was, 87€. Didn't want to play with 3rd vendor versions. Now only need an new battery, need to take the MBP to vacation for 4 weeks in China.
