My First Conquest in a While

Postby kite210 » 05 May 2012, 06:07

So recently I met this guy through my work that up until two years ago, was exclusively a mac repair specialist. I started talking to him and he took me to one of his storage units and let me have a look around. I wound up bringing two macs home. I'm certain I'm gonna go back there, as he has about 15 flower power and blue dalmatian iMacs on the shelves.

So anyway, here are the machines.

First up is an eMac:

Specs:
1 Ghz PowerPC G4
512 DDR Ram
40GB HDD
ATI Radeon 9200
CD-ROM
Apple Keyboard
USB 2.0
Mac OS X 10.4.11
Cost: Just $20 dollars for the system and a keyboard.

Second is an Indigo iMac DV (Summer 2000) Slot Loader:
Image
400Mhz PowerPC G3
384MB PC-100 SDRAM
10GB HDD
CD-ROM
Apple Pro Keyboard (In White)
Apple Puck Mouse (I believe it's a Bondi Blue puck)
OS X 10.4.11
Price: $5 for the system, keyboard and mouse.

The eMac is in pretty good shape, it needs to have the marker removed from the front bezel, and it needs some basic cleaning. There is a slight burn in on the screen, but it's hardly noticeable.

The iMac is in pretty good shape too, the only issue with it is that it needs a slight adjustment to the CRT to get rid of some blurriness.

The keyboards are probably gonna get a retr0bright bath though, as they are both pretty yellowed.

I can't wait to head back over there and see what else I could find, he's got at least 75-100 more machines left there.

So THAT'S where all the Flower Power and Blue Dalmatian iMacs went! You should grab those since they're hard to find. I'd pay shipping plus $5 if they're the same deal as the iMac you grabbed. I'm sure many others here would too...

Cool scores, interested to hear what else you get from him!

Nice finds. I'm a big fan of the eMac, especially the late ones. They may be heavy, but the 1.25 and 1.42 models scoot along pretty good. My 1.42 has 2 gigs of RAM and it works great. And I love the crystal clear flat CRT they have. That, and they look cool.
2.5 i5 Mac Mini (Late '12), Dual 1.25 MDD, 1.42 eMac, 5500/275, 7600/120, 8500/120, 7100/80AV, 6100/66, LCII (w/LCIII Board), PB 520, a few PCs, and a 8GB Nook Tablet. More in my link --------->

eMacs are nice, my first eMac was found on the side of the road missing the clear cover. I used a green spaghetti strainer with duct tape to cover the huge hole. I was too poor to afford a newer mac and it served great for a few years. Had 2 since and another a family member uses everyday. Underrated computer. Throw on 10.5! Well..with more ram maybe

Nice scores there.

My jaw drops at the thought of 15 flower power and blue dalmatian iMacs actually existing in one spot...

If you can grab me one (flower power) I'll give you $300 for one if you'd ship it to me!

I was really shocked when I walked in there, I had never even seen a Flower power or Blue Dalmatian Imac in person before, They are the oddest computers I've ever seen. I didn't know the flower power iMacs had a pink apple logo though.

I'm thinking about adding an Airport extreme card to the eMac, so I'll probably be giving him a call here next weekend, who knows, I might just wind up with another machine. :beige:

Yeah they're really weird designs, aren't they!

The Flower Power has a blue Apple on top and a pink one on the back. They're both clear really but have a coloured plastic backing glued to them (unlike all the other coloured Apple logos which are actually coloured).
