How to use the Farallon iPrint Adapter?

I was able to buy a Farallon iPrint LT adapter off of eBay for $6. I didn't know what it would come with though. So today, I received it in the mail with just the box its self and the original power cable. I want to be able to chain my PowerBook 5300CS either to my 2011 MacBook Pro or my 2002 eMac and be able to transfer files between them. I would also like to be able to connect either the MBP or eMac with my 512kE if possible. I have checked and it is the LT model, not the SL.

It won't work with your MBP. The eMac will work if you have pre-10.4 on it. For the 512Ke, funny, I'm actually writing that section on the Guide as we speak -- you'll need a DE-9 to PhoneNET adaptor and AppleShare WS 1.1 or higher. The link in my signature has more (minus a bunch of changes pertinent to this discussion and the 512Ke stuff, it'll be about another month before that is released).

So, I will need AppleTalk for the PowerBook? The eMac is running 10.2.8, but I'm thinking of upgrading it to 10.3. I had a feeling it wouldn't work with the MBP. Thanks for the help!

512Ke to Powerbook: LocalTalk, PhoneNET. You will need a AAUI adaptor for the 5300cs if you want Ethernet on it.
512Ke to eMac (700 or 800MHz model): DE-9 to PhoneNET (preferred) or DE-9 to mini DIN 8 with a PhoneNet adaptor or splitter connected to the iPrint which goes to the eMac
PowerBook to eMac: LocalTalk to PhoneNET, PhoneNet to iPrint, to eMac via Ethernet
PowerBook to 512Ke: already covered
PowerBook to MBP: AAUI to Ethernet, Ethernet to Ethernet (or PCMCIA solution)
512Ke to MBP: Serial terminal or something like that. You could use the eMac as a bridge Mac.
eMac to MBP: Ethernet

10.2.8 is fine, 10.3 is a bit more refined though. I have heard of issues with 10.3 and AppleTalk. You will need classic Appletalk enabled in NetInfo Manager. See the link in my sig. I don't know what your MBP is running but if it is 10.7, you cannot connect your PB to it without something like FTP or terminal stuff. Host NetPresenz on the PB or...eMac as a bridge running 10.2.8/10.3. Again - link in sig.
