What are some code editors recommended for MacOS 9x?

I like to use BBEdit occasionally. C++ was common, I've been having a lot of fun with REALBasic recently which is very quick to get onboard with an a small learning curve (more scripting vs programming)

    G4 MDD SfX PSU

I did this conversion last year, but didn't make any adjustments for ADC (since I don't use it). I also added test details on graphics cards that work with the PSU I selected. Without the ADC accommodations some of them caused issues...

    Loosening Powerbook g4 Ti Hinges

I ended up trying Lubeco Bar & Chain Oil 100 and found that it worked. I cleaned everything out of the hinges with some CRC spray and then applied the Lubeco Bar & Chain Oil with a syringe. I applied a lot and dried off the excess oil after it had worked its way around the hinges. It smelled bad...

Safely disassembling the TiBook display assembly

I started taking apart my DVI 1Ghz model to replace the hinges with a better set, only to find that the hinges are fixed to the LCD casing. For my situation (seized hinges) it wasn't worth it and ended up lubricating the hinges instead. You can unscrew the screen casing and pry it apart gently...

    Loosening Powerbook g4 Ti Hinges

Thank you both, unfortunately my attempt was unsuccessful :( It's still just as seized up and it feels like the frame is going to snap If I keep at it. It's a shame the hinges can't be taken apart, I guess I need to find another screen assembly. I disassembled the LCD last week to see if I could...

    Loosening Powerbook g4 Ti Hinges

Hey @jeremywork, do you remember how much PB B'laster you used on the hinges? I've just ordered some as my hinges have really seized up. Hopefully this fixes it!

My powerbook G3 Pismo is making a very loud squicky sound when plug in a USB CD drive

This happens with a few of my Macs as they've aged, my iMac G4 is the worst. It squeals whenever there is any HD activity, it's like an audible HD activity monitor.. I think it's to do with a dodgy power supply, I haven't tried replacing it yet. Does it happen when you plug in other power hungry...

I built a ChatGPT client for Mac OS 9

Hey @PB170, I had some time to look at this today and found a solution. System 7 doesn’t appear to be able to display some Platinum elements under B&W + 4 Greys modes. However, if you install the “Appearance” extension from Mac OS 8.0 these issues are resolved. It’s not an ideal solution but...

Introducing Weatherbot, a weather forecast application

Thanks @Byte Knight! I don't think you'll have to worry about that, it is a little heavy for 68k machines :)

Introducing Weatherbot, a weather forecast application

@joshc I use RealBasic 3.5.2 for 68k compilation, RealBasic 5.5.2 for PPC OS9 and under compilation, RealBasic 2007 R3 for the Universal Binary and Windows compilation. It can be a little tricky getting things working in a way where the app runs under all three versions and isn't cumbersome to...

Introducing Weatherbot, a weather forecast application

@mg.man glad to hear you got it working! It is a shame RealBasic apps are a bit inefficient, however although it's still not ideal you can drop the memory requirements down to 2400k and it will run fine. I'll update that with the next release. A control strip item would be fantastic, I'm not...

Thanks @PB170! I'm currently looking at the UI issue for monochrome displays so will hopefully have a fix out for that soon. Regarding the networking problem, do you have a full installation of Open Transport?

Introducing Weatherbot, a weather forecast application

Thanks for trying it out @mg.man! I'm not sure what's causing the connectivity issues, I can get it running ok in 7.5.3. Any chance you could please send me some screenshots of the extensions and control panels you have enabled?
